with Piano: Ashford & Simpson
The Symposium, held in honor of Dwight L. Greene ’70, began in 1993 as a memorial to his life and work as a professor of law, mentor, and friend to many. This year’s presenters will be Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson, parents of
Nicole Ashford ’97.
Ashford & Simpson have been one of the most creative and prolific musical couples in recording history, having written for and worked with such artists as Marvin Gaye (“Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”), Whitney Houston (“I’m Every Woman”), and Quincy Jones, among others. Their hit
“Solid as a Rock” continues to be a signature song. Compositions by Ashford & Simpson have been used as themes for such international events as Olympic opening ceremonies and Hands Across America (“Reach Out And Touch Somebody’s Hand”).
Please plan to join us for this very special event during Homecoming/Family Weekend. Admission is free but tickets are required. For more information, please visit
