The priority at KGJS is that children should be happy at school. Furthermore, respect for each other and good manners set the tone for good behaviour. The class teacher plays a key role in the pastoral system and is the day-to-day point of contact.
We feel that it is vitally important that children develop confidence through a rich and varied education and through being given responsibility.
House Points
All children belong to one of four houses – Birley, Clifton, Colbourne or Drapers with the aim of enabling children of all ages to have a common link. Inter-house competitions are arranged throughout the year and children are awarded House Points for good behaviour and good work. The House Points shield is awarded weekly to the House that has amassed the most points in that particular week. A House Points Cup is also awarded termly.
J4 pupils act as Librarians, House Captains, and Monitors, under the supervision of the Head Girl and Head Boy and the Senior Prefect. This enables many children to experience the demands of positions of responsibility. Playground monitors help all pupils to mix and play. Each form has a Council Representative who acts as the voice of their peers at the half-termly School Council Meetings.
