Blog and Forum Rules

By Fox on March 26, 2010, 2:10 am

From the Terms of Service
ScrewAttack.com reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reject, refuse to post or remove any
posting (including email) by you, or to restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to all or any part of the Website and/or Services at any time, within reason, with or without prior notice, and without liability. These following rules go for all parts of ScrewAttack.com including the "main site", forums and any other page existing under the domain.

We are a nice and reasonable group here at ScrewAttack so do us a favor and don't push us.  You will get a warning... after that we make no promises.
NO SPAM

Spam will in no way be tolerated.
Spam can also be posting repeatedly, through different topics or repeatedly posting a topic that has been deleted by a mod.
Do not make excessive posts consisting of only emoticons, useless replies, or single words. It's not necessary to respond to every topic and post just to be a post/blog *****.

KEEP POINTLESS THREADWASTING/BLOGS TO A MINIMUM

This includes topics like 'I'm bored','Hello i'm new' or 'LOOK AT MY NEW PICS'.
Also topics whose sole intent is to insult someone will be deleted.
The forums are for discussion, not attention seeking.
The blogs are for opinion based items and user created content, not one word statements.  This is not twitter.

NO DUPLICATE TOPICS
If a topic exists a couple of pages away covering the same issues then the new one will be
deleted. Look through the pages to see if it has already been posted, if not then it should be okay to post.

NO POSTING IN WRONG FORUM

If you have a PS3 question don't post it in Nintendo, etc.
If you are new, try contributing to an existing topic first.
Keep off-topic posts to a minimum and keep useless information to yourself.Keep your blogs, videos, forum posts and anything else you add to the site in it's proper place.

NO OBSCENITY / PERSONAL ATTACKS

This includes excessive swearing, flaming, instigating of other members, sexually explicit material or posting of pornographic
NO Racism, sexist remarks, bigotry or personal attacks on other members of any sort.

NO CROSS-POSTING THE SAME TOPIC

Do not post the same topic in more than one forum. This is treated as spam. If you want to write multiple blogs in the same day you may but please make sure they are not tiny and lame.  Make 'em good!

DO NOT LINK TO TORRENTS, ROMS, OR EMULATORS

While it may be hard to find old or rare games, it is illegal to acquire them through ROMs and the discussion and/or sharing of ROM sites is forbidden. Posting any links to such sites will result in your post being deleted and further disciplinary actions at the discretion of the mods and admins.

NO ARGUING WITH MODS AND ADMINS.

If you are asked to discontinue doing something or given a warning for any reason, respect what they say and do not argue with them. If you disagree with something, at the very least pm an admin to discuss it like a reasonable adult.

SOLICITATION

Any accounts, topics, or posts created sorely for the purpose of advertising another product or site may be removed at the sole discretion of the ScrewAttack staff or by the moderators or administrators of ScrewAttack.com.

Use the "Alert Moderator" button. You'll see it in the lower right hand corner of forum posts.  Fill out the spots that request information, hit Submit, and when one of us logs on we'll see the report and will deal with it.

ALL DELETIONS ARE FINAL.

Since they are the rules for the Blogs and the Forums, it didn't make sense for users to have to visit the Forums just to see them.  Covering all the bases. :D

Yeah, more people should be able to see it aside from the 6 forum users.

Trust me and these awesome moderators that we are not the kind of g1s who tolerate people shouting "First!" on videos.

I just ignore them and not give a notice to the comment.

Posting the rules in a general location is a great idea. Even though Screwattack is a fairly clean site, there are still a few people who take it too far.

It's always good to have a refresher!

Hope more people see this and know when they're in the wrong!

Hmmm.... I do not remember having the Rules button added to the site, still this is definitely better than having it posted as a regular blog and I will definitely keep this in mind!

I think it's awesome that g1's actually care to now and then gently remind each other to be aware of the expectations that the community has.

I have a question: If I post something that contains blood, violence, or gore, am I violating the rules?   I've been looking around and I've never seen any warning about it.

Also, if I talk about something in a game like San Andreas' 'Hot Coffee' mission or something from an Adults Only rated game, am I violating the rules?

if it is within the context of the game I don't see a problem with it
