Contests and Awards

PNA and PNA Foundation hosts numerous contests and awards throughout the year:

Purpose: Honors the best use and promotion of display and classified advertising.
Eligible: Member Newspapers only
Awarded at: PNA Advertising Conference

Purpose: Awarded to the best quality print product judged by black ink laydown, color ink laydown, color registration, halftone quality, page alignment and overall print appearance.
Eligible: Open to all newspapers
Awarded at: America East Conference

Purpose: Recognize an individual who has perfromed an outstanding service or accomplishment to his newspaper or community.
Eligible: Nominees may include newspaper owners and employees, legislators, community leaders, business leaders and university/college administrators.
Awarded at: PNA Annual Dinner at the Annual Convention

Purpose: Awarded for distinguised work supporting freedom of information.

Edward Thomas Distinguished Service Memorial Award
Purpose: Honor individuals who have contributed their time and talents to further the efforts of the America East Conference.
Eligible:  Individuals
Awarded at: America East Conference

Purpose: Given to an individual or organization that has made an outstanding contribution to the community or state through an article or series of articles.
Eligible: Individuals or Organizations
Awarded at: PNA Annual Convention

Purpose: Recognize journalism that consistently provides relevance, integrity and initiative in serving readers, and furthers First Amendment values.
Eligible: Professionals and Students
Awarded at: Pennsylvania Press Conference (Professional division) and America East (Student division)

Purpose: Honoring outstanding service and accomplishment spanning a career in journalism
Eligible: The nominee must (1) be a present or former publisher or senior manager of a Pennsylvania newspaper and (2) have spent a significant part of his or her career working in Pennsylvania.
Awarded at: PNA Annual Dinner at the Annual Convention

Purpose: Recognize exemplary newspaper carriers and emphasize the postive points of the carrier distribution system.
Eligible: Adult and Youth newspaper carriers
Awarded at: PNA Foundation Annual Golf Outing

Purpose: Recognizing overall excellence in Pennsylvania newspapers.
Eligible: Member newspapers only
Awarded at: PNA Annual Convention

Purpose: Recognizing overall excellence in Pennsylvania newspapers.
Eligible: Member newspapers only
Awarded at: PNA Annual Convention

Purpose: Recognize the newspaper that has helped improve the community through public service leadership.
Eligible: Member newspapers only
Awarded at: PNA Annual Convention

Purpose: Honors the efforts by newspapers that create a community of readers through innovative initiatives.
Eligible: Member newspapers only
Awarded at: PNA Annual Convention

Affiliate Awards are presented in conjunction with or during PNA events, but are not sponsored by the PNA.
