So Bryan thought the premise of hopping in some of the coolest mechs ever, the Mobile Suits, and tearing up space was pretty cool. Did Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3 live up to his expectations or crush them under it's mechanized foot?

They BROKE the franchise.
But...sadly, the game they made, while NOT nearly as awesome as the first 2 fallout, was a decent game in it's own. If only for liberty prime's few lines. In itself, it's a good game, but not a good fallout.
As for you bryan. LAME. you're reviewing a dynasty warrior game. don't ever expect much more than 2-3 button gameplay. They've been built over this simple process, and while it gets boring fast, it WORKS. they sell enought to continue and make profit.
I agree change in gaming is fun, but recently, I've come to hate it.
Ff was good early then sucked. Ea buying westwood = end of C&C.
Many other exemple could be said... Change = bad*
*except when a game DID suck before, and its actualy improoving, :P.

Somewhat like an FPS. Its actually one of the best damn Gundam Games I've played, and I've played a lot. You aren't in some uber-mech Gundam, but you get a fair selection of different mobile suits as you go through the game, and it features destructable body parts that effect the enemy.
Blow off the head? Disables camera systems so they can't see.
Blow off their gun-arm? Lose their guns, and have to fight with the melee weapon.
Do both? Hilarity ensues as Zaku II runs around in circles blindly swinging his axe.

I have the same feeling. As it turns out there's this one mech game called A.C.E. Another Century's Episode R for the PS3. It takes all the robots from series' like Z Gundam, Gundam Seed Destiny, Code Geass, Full Metal Panic, Macross, and several other I didn't know existed. All flying around blowing stuff upt and fighting giant battles in the mecha anime style I like to see. The catch, it's only avalable in Japan.

The game I am referring to is Mobile Suit Gundam on the Playstation 2. It was a launch title for the ps2 and focused mainly on the events from MSG.

I also liked DW: Gundam 1, but I haven't gotten a chance to pick up 2, but 3 looks pretty damn awesome to me.
As for the "mindless button mashing", It's like no one figures out that you can pull off combos by alternating X and Y/square and triangle. A lot of people don't realize is that once you turn up the difficulty, simply "mashing" X or square will not get you anywhere, but hey, I like the games so I guess it shouldn't bother me if there's haters out there.

I also remember the final battle with Raoh in Kenshiro's story....wow was that frustrating. Basically a one hit kill if he directly hits you.

It could be stress relief or just being able to turn off your brain as you play, but the games' simplicity doesn't bother me like it would in any other game.
