President Mahinda Rajapaksa led United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) secured an overwhelming victory at the Local Government Elections 2011, concluded after final phase on voting on Saturday 23, when voters in most areas of the North went to the polls for the first time since the defeat of the LTTE.
The roadmap for finding a 13th Amendment-plus political solution will take the Tamil question in Sri Lanka to a Parliamentary Select Committee, which will look into it and propose suitable constitutional amendments, and then on to Parliament, President Mahinda Rajapaksa said.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (20) concluded his 3-day visit to the North, marking the longest stay by a Head of State there since independence.
