Pam Anderson: no stage, no reality

December 14, 2007 |  9:26 am
Pamelaanderson After the closing of "Beauty of Magic" at Planet Hollywood, where she worked as the assistant on Hans Klok's already forgotten illusion show, Pamela Anderson made no secret about wanting to stay in Vegas and star in her own production show.

But the extraordinary costs of mounting a new production show on the Strip these days meant that Anderson finding any takers for her proposed show was always a long shot, at least for Vegas.

Anyway, that reality may have also cost the world Pamela Anderson reality television. Oh the times, oh the customs!

On her site, Anderson has an item titled "No Reality Show!" In it, Anderson writes that she is going to nix the idea about a television show on her life in Vegas.
In the most interesting part of the post, Anderson writes, she was considering the television show: "Only to promote and have people see what it's like to create a show and be on stage starring in a big Vegas production- (probably not happening anymore)."

So, it also appears a production show starring Pamela Anderson will not be headed to the Strip.

In fact, it seems Anderson's dream of hosting her own Vegas production had her using a reality television show as bait to attract potential resorts on the Strip and/or audience interest.

Pamela Anderson has posted on her site that she is getting married to Rick Salomon tonight after the Vegas act in which she co-stars: The Beauty of Magic with Hans Klok at Planet Hollywood.

In a blog entry titled "The adventures of Scum and Pam have begun," Anderson writes:

"Rick and I are truly grateful. We are toasting the casino right after we get married after my show."

By the way, in the "small world department," Rick's former video co-star Paris Hilton is said to be at Luxor tonight, and Pamela Anderson's former video co-star Tommy Lee is at the Hard Rock.

Pamela Anderson opening topless bars?

June 22, 2007 |  8:42 am
Pamandhans Pamela Anderson is spending her summer weekends in Vegas this year performing (some would say slumming) in Hans Klok's magic show at Planet Hollywood. She has made no secret how much fun she is having in Vegas. And, more adventures may be on the way.

Most recently there was a reportedly steamy reunion with ex-Tommy Lee. Pamela and Tommy, of course, have so many Vegas memories together already. And, be honest, we have too many Vegas memories of them, too. But according to fellow blogger, Robin Leach, sparks may be flying again between the couple as the duo were seen hanging out engaging in PDA after the show. (I am impressed by how Leach's source is so sure that the two of them headed right from the Planet Hollywood bar to Anderson's hotel room for the night.) Of course, this is great press for Klok's show. It even sort of conveniently balances competitor magician Criss Angel's recent bout of press clippings from finding love with Cameron Diaz. Does reporting on Strip entertainment make me too cynical?

(Anyway, let's hope this time Kid Rock doesn't come banging on hotel doors in the middle the night looking for Anderson.)

Yet, Pamela Anderson's love of Vegas seems to be reaching a new level. In a blog entry yesterday Anderson expressed her desire to open a chain of strip club bars in tribute to her roots in Finland. The title for Anderson's version of a grind joint: Lapland.  I am sure Finnish pride will reach new heights, if this actually happens. (Photo by Sarah Gerke)

Pamela Anderson just works weekends

May 21, 2007 |  9:32 am

Pamelaandhans A gorgeous poster of Pamela Anderson is up on her site with the note: "I come alive out of this poster - in Han's magic show in Vegas - it's a great entrance!!! Can't wait to start the show! Every weekend this summer at the old Aladdin!!! Now Planet Hollywood Hotel!" I had not realized the show was only going to be on weekends. So, I called over to get details. It turns out, that there will only be four performances each weekend (Thursday in Las Vegas counts as a weekend night) of "The Beauty of Magic." One show each will be on Thursday and Friday night with two shows (7 and 10) on Saturday. I think such a limited workload is a first for a permanent Vegas headliner's show.  Most resident headliners work at least 5 days a week with two shows added on the weekend. Lance Burton at Monte Carlo is typical. He works 5 days managing a total of 7 shows during a week. Penn and Teller only do one show a night but work six nights a week. A really hot show, like cirque's Love, manages two shows a night, five nights a week for a total of 10 shows. Usually you try to do as many shows as possible, because, keep in mind, even the smaller shows require stagehands, dancers, maintenance workers, ushers and other support staff. Then there is the advertising. In short, any headliner puts in place a lot of permanent expenses that can only be offset by adding shows. Back in the day, some performers were contracted to do three shows a night. Those days are gone. But it will be interesting to see if this experiment in a weekend only headliner pays off for Planet Hollywood.
