..."Ford has dramatically improved this model since it's introduction in 2007.
The interior has been upgraded to include SYNC and on board navigation. The mileage has also improved. I was averaging 32 mpg with my 2007 model, my 2011 averages 36 mpg!"...

My Ford Escape Hybrid review

...Cons: Routine maintenance is a bit more expensive then non-hybrids. Oil change is about $40. I wish there was room by the console/cup holder area to hold extra items like sun glasses or an iPod. Overall: The only reason to purchase this vehicle is if you want to drive a SUV but don't want pay the high cost of frequently refilling your traditional SUV. If you do a lot of city driving, this is a good buy; however, I live in the country and get good gas mileage compared to other SUVs. The inside cargo space is not as big as other SUV, but it can fit 4 adults & 1 kid comfortably and several...

I love it.

..."This vehicle was a real change of pace for me in style, brand, and size...
but after 3 months, all I can say is that I have been very very happy with it.
Originally I wanted a newer model year, but I'm very
happy with this one -- and I'm sure I'll keep it for a few years (and have already started thinking about eventually getting a newer model Escape Hybrid.)...

Evolve or die, Ford Escape is the answer

...Dealers sticker MSRP + 10% typically get at least MSRP. Comparing to conventional Escape, the fuel savings payback is a disappointing 10 yrs @ $3, 6 yrs @ $5/gallon. Overall: My wife and I took a three day trip to Mt. Rainier here in Seattle with our new Escape Hybrid. I expected mileage to be marginal, as we would be driving winding hilly mountainous roads, but was pleasantly surprised to find our Escape achieving 32.5 MPG through-out the trip. Mileage around Seattle during the first couple of days of driving has been about 31.5 MPG...

2005 Escape Hybrid - Loving it!
Source: MSN Autos

...I've already put 10,000 miles on it, and it's been trouble free. In July I was rear ended by a Comcast truck, that truck lost its radiator fluid and engine oil when it hit me - and I wasn't hurt in any manner. An amazing vehicle. I have all the upgrades with mine, and love the audiophile system and gps navigation too. The acceleration is very impressive, I can actually lay down rubber if I'm not careful - it's that responsive. I just love not burning any gas while I'm stopped in traffic! Cons: The brakes grab a little when I'm stopping if they are wet from rain. Overall: Over, I highly...

Love, Love, Love it!

...The Cargo space is adequite for hauling 4 square bales of hay, or about 6 bags (50 lbs ea) of horse feed. It comfortably seats 4 adults, or 2 dults and 3 young (age 10 or younger) children. The ground clearence is my biggest RAVE...the Prius is low to the ground and more aerodynamic (as shown by the avg 45-52 mpg I get in it) but the Escape gets an admirable real world 35-40mpg (better than the EPA estimate, and has never bottomed out on me coming out of a parking lot, or on the rough dirt road where I live. After 3 months of daily driving, I have nothing but good things to say about my 06...

Ford Escape Hybrid

...Pros: Great looking SUV and a very comfortable ride.
You would never know it was a hybrid by the way it drives and looks.
Cons: I am a little disappointed in my gas mpg (26.4 mpg city), but after driving an Explorer for the past 10 years, my mpg is awesome.
Overall: I love my Ford Escape Hybrid, great car! After driving for 35 years, I have never been happier with my car...

Ford Escape Hybrid- Unreliable regen brakes.
Source: Cars.com

..."Four years in to owning this vehicle it has developed a problem with the braking system.
At random times the power assist on the braking system fails.
This makes most of the braking power go away. Ford wants $4000 to fix a faulty abs module.Poppycock
!I have had regular maintenance performed on this vehicle at a Ford shop. I advise against buying this car."...

102,000 Miles and Still Running Strong as Ever!
Source: Cars.com

...Overall it's been an great SUV and i plan on keeping it for at least another 100,000 miles. Plenty of room for groceries, bikes, camping gear, or whatever you need. Great for those that want to save money at the pump but don't want to sacrifice features, room, and styling (couldn't see myself in a prius ;-) ). Ford definitely hit a homerun with this one. If you're looking at buying a used one don't get nervous about buying one with high mileage, they use these as the NYC taxi's now and their first fleet of them was turned in last year and none of them had any major repairs after over 300,000...

Best mileage in SUV class and fun to drive
Source: Cars.com

...It handles well, is relatively quiet, has very good pickup, the exterior looks great, and it gets 31 mpg overall thanks to the hybrid/gas engine. It is certainly smaller than the Pilot (no 3rd row, and it is about 4 inches less wide), but the front seems to have more legroom (I'm 6`2") and my kids are young enough so they fit fine in their booster seats in the 2nd row. I'm sure there will be occasions when I miss the extra room, and the fit and finish overall is not as polished as the Pilot, but the increase in mileage from 18 to 31mpg and the opportunity to buy American for the first time...
