Polyandry custom is one of the bad customs which can not be illuminated from the society even in this 21st century. This bad custom popular in various parts of Tibet is existing among the Tibetan origins nresiding in Himali region of Nepal. This polyandry custom exists in Doda caste of India, Aham caste of Africa and Shihalida caste of Srilanka.
This polyandry custom is exists in Lomthang or upper Mustang of Mustang District, samagaon, chhekampar village of Gorkha District and Kimathanka village of Sankhuwasabha.
Generally, there are two types of polyandry customs. If one woman marries with total brothers of the same family at the same time, it is called fraternal polyandry. Such a way, if one woman marries more men whoever they are at the same time, it is called non fraternal polyandry. Fraternal polyandry custom is popular in Himali region of Nepal.
In the course of study, it is found that there are various reasons of existing polyandry custom in some villages of Himali region. This type of custom found popular for the purpose of not creating crisis food stuff as the production of food stuff in Himali region is low and number of family members are more, controlling population, not dividing properties and lands and not separating and quarreling family members. Observing straightly, there are some positives aspects in this custom but comprehensively, polyandry custom is a negative bad custom itself. It affects badly in the health of society as well as family in long term basis. Due to polyandry custom, there are risks of increasing sex harassment, danger of low population and damaging health of woman.
