Dalrymple is a genuine off-spinning all-rounder. Born in Kenya, he made an instant impression in a Varsity match whilst at Oxford in 2003. He scored a double century, becoming only the third man to do so in a Varsity fixture, and followed it up with five first-innings wickets. He represented England Under-19s against their Sri Lanka counterparts in 2000 and later captained British Universities. In 2004 he became available to Middlesex full-time and made a career-best 244 against Surrey at The Oval after being drafted into the squad as a replacement for Andrew Strauss who was away on...
