Institute's Summer Business Sentiment Survey finds Irish Economy hitting a soft patch

Commenting on the results, Institute President John Hannaway noted: “While the Summer Business Survey results point towards a broad stabilisation in activity, we are clearly not in a normal recovery phase. Although a significant number of companies are now doing well, for many others a difficult adjustment phase is likely to continue for some time.”

Local Authorities should not be allowed collect household charge - Chartered Accountants Ireland

With the introduction of a household charge as a form of property tax now inevitable, responsibility for collecting this charge should be with the Revenue Commissioners, not the local authorities.  "It is important to get the collection, administration and appeals mechanism correct from the start” according to Chartered Accountants Ireland Tax Director Brian Keegan.
