I would give it to Slayer. WPB was their most inspired album in quite a while, and the title track is awesome.

Maiden had FAR better songs on FF than El Dorado. Starblind should've been nominated instead.

The Grammys blow.

Metal has never needed approval from anyone. Metal bands don't write music to win awards they are not looking for any kind of validation.

The people who choose the nominations probably know nothing about metal and just look for the most recognizable band names.
Why did they choose a Megadeth song from a video game? When Slayer won a grammy it was actually for some bonus song on a rerelease of Christ Illusion, so they won a grammy for a song that the majority of their fan base had not even heard.

Yet "In your Words" is nominated, at that came out in what, 2/09?

Maidens album sucked, Ozzy's sucked, Slayer has ALWAYS sucked, Megadeths song is from goddamn Guitar Hero, and all the others suck too. Except Alice in Chains and Lamb of God... Both of their albums were good, but they were released in like 2008-09.

What it should be:

Best Hard Rock Performance:

Alter Bridge - "Isolation"

Best Metal Performance:

Black Label Society - "Overlord"

dude - go back to listening to eminem. I think BLS is NOT a bad choice at all but there were other stand out cd's that came out this year and Alice and Chains are more Hard Rock - than metal. BTW, I am the biggest Maiden fan but "El Dorado" is the worst song on the album. I REALLY hate that song! Why not "The Talisman" or "The man who would be King" or "Coming Home" or "Starblind"??? Those songs are awesome! Megadeth also came out with an incredible cd in EndGame. World Painted Blood had NO stand out songs whatsoever. Lamb of God is the worst Metal band I've ever heard in my life. That cookie-monster shit is crap and I'm glad it's nearly dissappeared off the musical land-scape. I can't even make out what that dude is saying when he sings. BLS was re-vitalized and it showed.

The Alter Bridge album came out last month so it's not up for nomination. It'll be a crime if they don't get nominated for something next year, though. That record is amazing.

It's not as if either of these categories are part of the televised show, so it's not as if hard rock are metal are getting some decent exposure here.

Still, at least they nominated some halfway decent bands like AIC and Maiden. Maiden deserves it for a better song than that though, like When The Wild Wind Blows, or The Alchemist.

Bet you it'll be Ozzy and Korn that win though haha. Although I think it's funny that Korn is in the Metal category instead of Hard Rock and Ozzy isn't... this just proves that he is NOT METAL!!!

:-P

They ignored the Beatles.
The Who
Jimi Hendrix
Pink Floyd
Led Zep
Then 30 years later they give them life time achievement awards.
Or when Motorhead got one for a cover of a Metallica song.
Or when Judas Priest got one for a live version of a 30 year old song.
Same with Black Sabbath.
Now if the new Exodus or Overkill was nominated.
Or Nevermore.
I hope Maiden wins just cause they are my fave band ever.
But there are way better songs on that album.

The new Accept record is great!!! Even without Udo... But we are talking about the Grammy's... Who nominated Korn in the same category of Maiden, Megadeth and Slayer... I remember once Jonathan Davis said (Follow the leader era I think) he didn't want to go on tour with Maiden (or solo Dickinson) because they were too metal for Korn...

It's so lame that if there is any real music nominated, it's in some half-assed category they probably won't even televise. Make sure to give all these f*ckin' douches like Feminem more publicity. It's either horsesh*t pop or horsesh*t rap. This is why the music industry is dead.

Soundgarden & AIC deserve their nominations, but they'll probably give it to Ozzy(again).

In that Best Metal Performance category, two of the albums came out in 2009, Korn isn't metal, Iron Maiden's new album sucked. So Megadeth is the clear winner. But let's all ignore the truly amazing music like Agalloch, Nachtmystium, and Enslaved.

I like Soundgarden more than AIC, but Looking in View is a better song than Black Rain.

Same for Maiden - one of my lifetime favorites, but El Dorado is weak and World Painted Blood is an amazing track.

Who gives a fuck about Grammys. With the exception of korn the recording/radio industry has never given a fuck about any of these bands until now, when the average age of metal fans has increased so we have more disposable income for them to lap up. They can fuck right off I hope whichever band wins doesn't even bother to show up.

The Grammy's are a joke, like most any big media awards. Overkill's Ironbound should be one of the nominee's. One of the best, if not the best, albums of the year. Look up on this site what the fans think. Last time I checked it was the number one rated album EVER on this site. If MegaDave wins, it would be a shame that he would win for a song that pales in comparison to other songs he SHOULD have won for.

Erm... the Soundgarden track was recorded in 1991. OK, it was released in 2010, but still. The Grammy committee couldn't find ONE other track that was actually made this year? Jeez...

The Grammys nominaties are only pushed by record companies. It's a not-so-subtle way of telling the clueless masses: "Hey, look everybody! "insert artist name" has made a record this year! Look everybody! Hey! Here! Over here! Hello! Buy our record!"

Also, Porcupine Tree was nominated in the Surround Sound category, and the Rush documentary by Sam Dunn and Scott Mcfadyen was nominated in the Video Long Form category. Actually, those two are really well-deserved nominations.

Neil Young was also nominated a few times for his latest album. I loves me some Neil Young, but Le Noise is well... shit.

El Dorado's the weakest song on Maiden's new album next to The Alchemist.
It should've been When The Wild Wind Blows or The Talisman.
