A caring son, brother, husband, and father of five children ages four through 16, Lt. Dotson left his mark on the world around him and beyond. His dedication to his career was surpassed only by his love for his family. His legacy lives on through his family that now includes the 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren that he never had the chance to hold. Two more William Dotsons (his son, who was four when his father died, and his grandson, who is being deployed to Iraq later this year) have also served their country as members of the U.S. Navy. In addition, Lt. Dotson’s three triplet granddaughters were also members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Many of our family members had the honor of attending the memorial service honoring the Cape Cod 12 on Whidbey Island, WA, in September 2006. It was a wonderful opportunity for our family to come together with the loved ones of Lt. Dotson’s comrades who also lost their lives that fateful day and to share the memories we all hold dear.
Respectfully submitted by Toni Ahlberg, eldest daughter of Lt. Dotson
