Sufjan Stevens, National's Dessner, Nico Muhly Compose Song Cycle for Trombones and Strings
But you have to go to the Netherlands to hear it
Most people would take a lengthy vacation following something as ambitious and expansive of an undertaking as Sufjan Stevens' just-concluded tour behind last year's BNM'd bleep-bloop opus The Age of Adz. Sufjan isn't "most people," though, so he's keeping busy-- by writing music for trombones and strings. Naturally.
Austra Announce Remix Album, Tour
Austra: "Beat and the Pulse (Still Going Remix)":
Sparkle, the new remix album from bewitching Canadian electro-goths Austra, is out now digitally and on 12" on August 23 via Domino. The album collects reworkings of tracks from their recent album Feel It Break, and it includes contributions from Planningtorock, MDNR, 120 Days, and others. Above, listen to a remix of "Beat and the Pulse" from New York DFA production duo Still Going. We've got the tracklist below.
Also below, check out Austra's tour dates. In fall, they'll head out for a North American tour, with Grimes opening many of the shows.

Watch: Robyn and Rye Rye on "Leno"
"Never Will Be Mine", the new single from Baltimore dance-rapper and M.I.A. protégé Rye Rye, interpolates Robyn's "Be Mine". And when Rye Rye came to "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" on Friday night to perform the song, she brought Robyn. Any opportunity to watch Robyn dancing and singing on a stage is a good one, even if that performance ends with Robyn and Rye Rye sharing a stage with Leno and Dennises Miller and Rodman.

Flaming Lips Lighting Rig Collapses in Storm
No injuries reported after wreck in Tulsa

If you're a festival organizer right now, you may want to consider investing in some extra stage support. A few weeks after a stage collapsed in Ottawa while Cheap Trick was playing, the Flaming Lips suffered a similar calamity when a lighting rig collapse doomed their set at the Brady District Block Party in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Hear a New Justice Song
Ed Banger head Busy P plays "Audio, Video, Disco" during DJ set
French electro noisemakers Justice have a new album set for a fall release on Ed Banger. We've already heard the album's first single, "Civilization". Over the weekend, Ed Banger co-head Busy P performed at HARD Summer 2011 in Los Angeles' Historic State Park. During that set he played another new Justice song, "Audio, Video, Disco". Joseph Tsai caught it on video-- watch it below. The audio isn't amazing quality, but you can definitely make out the new song just fine.
Video: Girls: "Vomit"
Check out the souped-up visuals for the sprawling song
Girls' video for the BNM'ed romantic psych-rocker "Vomit" opens with a long, drawn-out series of close-up, fetishistic shots of a classic Ford Mustang. We're two minutes in before we see a single human being and three minutes in before the face of frontman Christopher Owens first flashes onscreen. It's a long, weird video, but it also manages to absorb completely for its nearly seven-minute runtime. Watch it below.
