The Adulteress Getting Stoned

I don't think a whole lot of the Crystal Cathedral. I think it is more a monument to Robert H. Schuller's ego than anything else. Who builds a glass building in the middle of earthquake country? I do have to admit, though, that Schuller is a marketing genius. He built quite an empire here.

The one or two good things about the place are the plays they put on: The Glory of Christmas and The Glory of Easter. My Mom asked me to go with her several years ago and I reluctantly agreed just to make her happy. I was pleasantly surprised. The productions are first-rate. I highly recommend them if you get the chance.

"He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." Jesus and the Adulteress are featured in the Gospel of John, Chapter 8, in the Christian New Testament. This statue is on the grounds of the Crystal Cathedral, a Protestant Christian mega-church in the city of Garden Grove, in Orange County, California, United States.

Trivia

Construction on the Crystal Cathedral began in 1977 and ended in 1980. The initial estimated cost of the church was $6 million, but the final cost was over $17 million (about $55 million in 2007 dollars).

There are 10,000 rectangular panes of glass in the building.
