American woodcock chick at Fort Custer

American woodcock (Scolopax minor, timberdoodle) found in Fort Custer Recreation Area. Minimally disturbed.

The chick was found with one other sibling, while the mother was not present. The chicks were old enough to slowly flee in human presence, but remained close to the nest.
