What is NOW?

The National Organization for Women, the largest feminist organization in the nation, consists of 500,000 women and men dedicated to legal, political, social, and economic equality for women. Our National Action Center is based in Washington, D.C., and employs approximately 30 women and men who work on issues such as violence against women, racial and ethnic diversity, economic equality, welfare rights, health care and reproductive rights, lesbian and gay rights, and the Equal Rights Amendment. NOW urges activists to strive for equality and justice through mass action, lobbying, non-violent civil disobedience and direct action.

If you are interested in taking an active role in the women's rights movement, NOW provides exciting and diverse volunteer opportunities. Our National Action Center is responsible for coordinating national actions, implementing policy, and providing membership services. You can make a difference in the lives of women by contributing your time and talents to feminist activism.

When Can You Volunteer?

You can pick the days you volunteer! We have both daytime and evening opportunities. If you would like to volunteer during the day, we ask that you give at least 2-3 hours per week. Our evening and weekend opportunities vary.

What Kind of Volunteer Opportunities Exist?

Volunteer projects fall into several areas, including office support, public relations/communications and field organizing. Volunteers work under the direct supervision of national officers and staff members.

Where Is Our Office?

The NOW Action Center is located at 1100 H Street NW, Third Floor, Washington, D.C. 20005. Our office is accessible by Metro from the Metro Center (orange, blue and red lines).
