Et tu Obama
The editorial, "Et tu Obama" succinctly mentioned the word "moneybags."
Everybody is for sale; it is a matter of price, a famous 20th century British philosopher said (this to a woman).
In my opinion, President Barack Obama is eager to elevate his future (bank account). The president isn't going anywhere in his present job and disgruntled citizens will vote him out for another "lucky person" to sit in the cushy White House. Therefore, keeping last year's promise for Palestinian statehood was ruthlessly sacrificed. The Jewish lobby will fete Obama and shower him with gold confetti, offering diamond-encrusted jobs. Ex-first lady Barbara Bush wrote a book about her doggie and every Free Library in this country has a copy on the shelf. No doubt Michelle Obama will write a book about kids and obesity - a guaranteed best seller. As always, money talks loudest. Let's see which country's leaders can be bought.
Regarding the Palestinians submitting their "Letter" to the UN, Linda Heard ended her article (Sept. 20) with the words, "Let the chips fall where they may" and John Whitbeck with, "Let the cards fall where they may." No doubt the Arab Spring is beneficial to the Palestinians' fight for statehood. But for the Israelis it is a disaster because it may spell that settlers no longer can occupy Arab land. And if the government wants to announce Israel as a Jewish state, then it may happen that Muslim "and" Christian Israelis will be expelled or forced to convert to Judaism.
