Saigon River from Thao Dien (Cafe 13)

Had a nice lunch at Cafe 13 on the Saigon River in Thao Dien.  It was quite hot during lunch but the riverside view was nice and relaxing.

Saigon River

The Saigon River is an important part of the landscape in southern Vietnam.  The last week, the Saigon River overflowed it’s banks on several occassions creating wide urban flooding in various parts of Saigon.  Today it was quite calm but until the dry season comes, we could see more flooding from this river.

Saigon River

Saigon River

Spent a couple hours at a coffee shop along the Saigon River last Monday.  It was hot but then the thunderstorm came to cool things off.

Saigon Lantern Kite

Saigon Lantern Kite

If you happen to see some strange red lights in the air around Anh Phu along the Saigon River, no worries, they are just lantern kites.  It was nice to watch.  They put a small candle inside a red lantern kite and then release it.  It flies up similar to a hot air balloon.   It stayed in the air for around 10 minutes flying over the Saigon Bridge into the Thanh Binh District area.
