Illinois defender is heading to Holy Cross

Connor Mulhern, a left back from Wilmette, Ill., has verbally committed to Holy Cross, he confirmed to ESPNHS Wednesday.

Mulhern plays club soccer for the Chicago Magic in the US Soccer Development Academy. Mulhern made 25 appearances with the Magic last season, starting 19 matches.

The Class of 2012 prospect earned high school all-conference honors and was an honorable mention all-state selection for Loyola Academy (Wilmette, Ill.) last year.

Holy Cross' recruiting class includes Mulhern, along with Diego Ceron, Jay Marchand, Luke Melody and Eddie Viscount.

Other Schools Considered: Brown, Lafayette, Richmond.

Why Holy Cross?: "I wanted to go to Holy Cross because coach Ted Priestly has an infectious personality. He makes you want to not only become a better player, but also a better person. Boston is a great town, and I loved the campus. Holy Cross was the perfect fit from day one."
