Where To Move The Goalpost?

It's hard for those absorbed by Dancing with the Stars to understand the forces in action in America, today. We have soldiers overseas subjecting themselves to danger and their adversaries to destruction, while at home the adversaries have the advantage. Bound by political correctness and an unwillingness to express honesty for fear of societal ostracization, even the brave, the fighters, turn away. They know the truth, that's enough for now.

But, there is a fire smoldering in the distance. Those who started it are long gone, yet it flickers to life with each new advancement of societal annihilation. Was there something wrong with America? Or, was it a movement of destruction distorting production into greed, virtue into shame? It turned on a dime. John Wayne died and the nation fell apart, yanked to pieces by the Hippie movement and insinuations that America was corrupt. All things are corrupt, the self-righteous eco-maniacal green movement is corrupt.

We struggle for normalcy, but it will never be normal again. That's the part that is so hard to swallow, to realize. We think once the recession is over, it will get better. The recession IS over. Now, what? Where should the goalpost be moved to next? That is what the forces of destruction are counting on: that we will try and try to establish normalcy until it they have taken over. The mind searches for easy answers, it stumbles along through disappearing trails yearning for some sense of direction.

The election is coming up, things will get fixed. No, they won't. It is not a battle that needs to be won, it is a war. The government is only a small part of the problem, society is the rest. It is not enough to stand up to your representative and give them what for, we need to stand up to the self-annihilists and give them what for. Don't accept the easy answers, that's how we got here. Oh, seat belt laws, that's a good idea. No, it is a forfeiture of your discretion. That's how they knew we were ready for someone like Barack Obama. It never starts with the jailhouse, it starts with reasonable compromises.

There is no reasonable compromise over the ownership of one's discretion. Thomas Jefferson wrote in the Declaration of Independence:
"...and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security..."
So, we are not there, yet. But, we must not fear change to the degree that we have it heaped upon us, but rather we should heap change on them.
