Cover Lay Down is proudly ad-free and non-profit, but effective music hosting isn’t free. The amount of bandwidth it takes to serve our growing readership runs well over one terabyte of data each month — enough songs to fill over a hundred iPhones — and you just can’t get that sort of pipeline without paying for it. And having technical support at our fingertips means ensuring that the blog, and its coversongs, are here when you need them.

In other words: like public radio, Cover Lay Down needs your support to survive.

If you like what you hear, please consider tossing a few bucks our way. (You do NOT need to have a PayPal account.) Your generous donation will go to defray expenses for stable, earth-friendly solar web hosting through iMountain.com.

Update 6/10/2011: PLEASE HELP MONSON REBUILD! While we’re all about the artists here, and though our server costs continue to rise as our popularity continues to grow, we believe in passing it forward. As such, Cover Lay Down is pledging 40% of all donations given between now and June 30th July 15th to rebuilding our local community of Monson, MA after the recent tornado cut a swath through the hills and into our downtown area, destroying our Town Offices and leaving well over 100 people homeless.

As a thank you, all who give to Cover Lay Down will receive a secret link to a homemade live bootleg mix of covers from this past year’s Grey Fox and Falcon Ridge Folk Festivals and house concerts. All tracks on these bootlegs were recorded by yours truly, and are available nowhere else. Featured artists on the 2010 bootleg include Sarah Jarosz, Tim O’Brien, Tracy Grammer and Jim Henry, Dala, Chuck E Costa, Eliza Gilkyson and Jimmy LaFave, Red Molly, and more.

Please give what you can…and thanks for your support!
