Prosecuting a Murder? Or Defending Abuse?

Many people have a visceral dislike for defense attorneys.  Mention the attorneys for O.J. Simpson or Casey Anthony, and these people will spit.  They wonder how these lawyers can sleep at night after a day spent defending a scumbag.

But so… Read full post »

The Other Side of the Story

We are gullible, every one of us.  Especially including myself.

My Interview With God

(After much pleading with God’s press agent, I finally got to sit down with the Deity for a rare interview. Amazingly, his office looks just like the Far Side cartoon where he sits at a computer and presses the “Smite” button.  However, to my surprise,/Read full post »

Ten Years Ago? I Remember It Like It Was Yesterday

Ten years ago?  I remember it like it was yesterday.

I remember that it was a beautiful morning: deep blue sky, pleasant temperature, low humidity, the kind of perfect September day when you want to call in sick and have an end-of-summer picnic.

Some Trivial Trivia Questions

While avoiding the drenching downpour of Irene, I mindlessly surfed the Net – well, I do everything mindlessly - and learned a few things that I didn’t know – and there’s a lot I don’t know - so I’ve turned them into trivia questions.  I don’t have any v… Read full post »

Random Thoughts, 8/20/2011

I don’t wish to make light of tragedy, but: “Brain-Eating Amoeba?”  Didn’t I see that movie on Chiller Theater when I was 14?  If the world is becoming a 1950s horror film, we’re doomed.
