So What Are We Going to Do at the Mom's Day Away?

Take a look at our schedule for the day

Well, I’m beginning to get pretty darned excited about our upcoming Faith & Family Mom’s Day Away on Saturday, April 2.

Time is almost running out, but you can still register!

For those of you who would like a little more information about the event before registering, or for those of you who are coming but would like to know more about what to expect, I thought I would post our schedule for the day.... READ MORE

Sharing Prayer

Let's do it!

Sometimes when my tiny twin boys are kicking me, I actually tear up thinking about how many people are praying for them.

To me, prayers are probably the biggest perk of being a blogger. My babies don’t deserve prayer more than any other babies, but they get it because so many kind, generous people know about their existence and wish the best for them. What a blessing that is!

Today, I’d like to share... READ MORE

Faith & Family Live ... In Person

Come to our Mom's Day Away in April!

We at Faith & Family have been working hard behind the scenes to hammer out the details of our first-ever Faith & Family Mom’s Day Away brought to you by BibleToys.com.

Save the date: April 2, 2011

This event, to be held at St. Patrick’s Parish in Stoneham, Massachusetts, will be a special gathering of Catholic moms for the purpose of refreshing our minds, bodies, and souls with friendship, prayer, and inspiration.

In addition to talks given by Jennifer Fulwiler, Rachel Balducci, and me, there will also be opportunities for socialization, personal prayer, and access to Mass, confession, and (we’re working on it!) adoration. We will enjoy a catered lunch, book signings, and select vendors.

We are really excited about the opportunity to gather as a Faith & Family family in this way. Our Mom’s Day Away online registration form (which we will update with schedules and other details as they become available) is ready to take your registration.

Seating is limited for this first-ever Faith & Family event. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to feed your soul and revitalize your commitment to your vocation as a Catholic wife and mother.

We look forward to meeting YOU!

(Get all the details at our registration page)

People Are Nicer Than You Think

and other lessons I've learned on the internet

I had the enlightening experience once of having a surprise “in-real-life” social meeting with someone (I will call her Jane) whom I had previously known only online.

Before our in-real-life meeting, I did not like Jane. Actually, I might very well have liked her, except for the fact that Jane did not like me. At least I thought she didn’t.

You know how you can get a bad “vibe” sometimes from reading... READ MORE

Mean Girls and Best Friends

How can women support one another?

Author Kelly Walen caused a stir three years ago with a New York Times female-friend-bashing essay, My Sorority Pledge? I Swore Off Sisterhood. In the essay, Walen describes her experience in a college sorority where she was victimized by a gang of “mean girls” and its long term effects on her ability to maintain female friendships.

In the two decades since, I’ve been a full-time lawyer, a working... READ MORE

Virtue Rather Than Advice

There is always work to be done by example, goodness, and prayer. We can enter into closer relationships with souls that are lukewarm or estranged from the faith, so as to lead them gradually, by the power of our patience, gentleness and goodness, by the influence of virtue rather than advice, back to a more Christian life or to the faith itself. By entering into friendly relationships with people totally opposed to religion we can, by our goodness and virtue, destroy their prejudices and bring them completely to God.

TLF With Your BFF

The Importance of Being Friends

I remember a long time ago, when I asked my mom who her best friend was, she told me, “Dad.”

This puzzled me, because in my mind best friends were playmates, not romantic interests. And yet, as I grew older I realized that a romantic interest is just an extension of a friend—they are not two separate categories. You can’t love someone who you don’t know.

The first thing two people notice about each... READ MORE
