About Robyn Lee

Robyn Lee Robyn Lee is a senior writer for Faith & Family magazine. She is a 30-something, single lady, living in Connecticut with her two cousins in a small bungalow-style kit house built by her great uncle in the 1950s. She also conveniently lives next door to her sister, brother-in-law and six kids ... and two doors down are her parents. She received her undergraduate degree from Christendom College in Philosophy with a minor in Theology and is currently preparing for her master’s comprehensive exams in dogmatic theology at Holy Apostles College. Besides her Faith and very close (literally) family, she loves spinning in the early a.m., drinking upside down caramel macchiatos, and snacking on chocolate all day long.

Voting Pro-Life

Even on the Local Level

Today I went to the grocery store to buy some comfort food for a rainy afternoon (Cheez-its and Reese’s pieces if anyone was wondering).

Happy with my purchase I walked out the door and was greeted by young professionals who asked if I was a resident of the town. When I said yes, I was introduced to the local politician who was running for Town Council.

Now let me first say that I am not into politics,... READ MORE

Small Acts for God

He Does Big Things With A Little Yes

My friend Heather and I are involved in a ministry called Theology on Tap. The basic idea of Theology on Tap is creating a forum where young people of all walks of life could talk about the faith in a casual setting at a bar or restaurant. A typical Theology on Tap consists of a 45 minute talk, 15 minutes q&a and time for fellowship afterward.

This forum opens the door to young people who wouldn’t... READ MORE

Eternal Rest

Prayers for the Faithful Departed

Recently my family received some very shocking news. My younger cousin died suddenly at the age of 22. I can’t tell you the amount of sadness that we all felt at such a young death.

It is tragedies like this, that make one question whether our God is good.

Why God? Why so young? Is there anything I could have done? Why didn’t you take my life instead? Are you in control?

But it is tragedies like... READ MORE

SaintlyTees Giveaway

Check out the new Christian Baby/Toddler Clothes

Recently I got an email from Danielle. “These look super cute. Do you want to check them out?” I scrolled down to the rest of the email and read about a new baby and toddler clothing line called, SaintlyTees.

I clicked over to the website and was excited to see all the brightly colored children’s clothing. Each shirt has a cute illustration with a scripture verse or Christian saying on the bottom.... READ MORE

Spring Fever

My favorite time of the year

I love Spring. Not the Winter thaw muddy mess, but the late May early June loveliness. For me, this is the perfect time.

I love eating dinner outside. I can smell the neighbors grilling burgers, which makes me turn on my grill because ... what a good idea!

I love that it is light out in the early morning and I love that it is light out until 9 p.m.

I love getting outdoors! Springtime is when we... READ MORE

Mountain of Papers

How do you organize your piles of mail?

I hate filing.

I’ve hated it since I was a summer intern working at a corporate office. I remember the paper cuts, the sore back, and the endless piles ...

When I got my first real job I thought: “now I’m a full-time employee. I won’t have to do any busy work.”

Boy, was I wrong. Not only did I have to file, but I was in charge of filing for the entire department!

I remember collecting the files... READ MORE

Showing Our Love

How Will You Be Celebrating Valentine's Day?

Is it too early to talk about Valentine’s Day?

Valentine’s Day is a funny day (and I don’t mean ha, ha).

I have a love/hate relationship with Valentine’s Day: when I am are dating someone I love it, when I am single I hate it.

Sometimes I think it is just another way the flower and card industry make a buck.

But, I do love the way my parents show their love on Valentine’s Day.

I remember as a kid,... READ MORE

Are You a Group Fitness Fan?

Finding motivation to exercise

If you noticed, many of us are writing about the snow and being stuck indoors. I have a normal tendency to hibernate in the winter, but this weather is even affecting my usual exercise routine.

I regularly wake up at 5:23 a.m. to get ready for the 6 a.m. group fitness class. I take a spinning class on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and a resistance weight-training class on Tuesday and Thursday.

Lately,... READ MORE

Up on the Roof

More tales from the DIY Diary

My cousin emailed me asking about how much snow was on the roof because houses with low-incline roofs were in danger of collapsing.

She recommended that we try to chip away at the ice dams on the edge of the roof that prevent drainage.

The idea of the roof caving in was certainly enough to motivate me to take action.

So, I grabbed the ladder, a shovel, my phone (just in case I landed somewhere... READ MORE

Mr. Fix-It to the Rescue!

Why do things break in threes?

As you know, I often write about diy (do-it-yourself) house projects, but there are some things that I won’t try by myself.

I call the professionals when it comes to major plumbing problems, anything to do with the furnace, or any electricity projects.

Recently, I had a plumber, a furnace repair man, and a stove maintenance guy in my house all on one day!  (Why do things break in threes?)

The plumber... READ MORE
