Brondbyøster School Census, 1738-1739

Abbreviations & Translations

Four lists were found for the school children in Brondbyøster School:

  • 5 Jan 1739
  • 31 Mar 1739
  • 3 Jul 1739
  • 14 Sep 1739

The first list did not include any names. The second and third lists how many days each child attended school during that quarter. The fourth list is a summary of the number of days each child attended school throughout the year (Sep 1738-Sep 1739). None of the lists tells the student's progress.

These lists are part of a packet in the Landsarkivet Sjælland in Copenhagen under the title, “Københavnsamt. Breve fra diverse Embedsmænd og partikulære Personer, 1739" [Copenhagen County. Documents from diverse officials and individuals, 1739]. Following is a transcript of these four lists.

Note: Son or daughter is listed by each of the children's names on the first list except for a few who were listed as farm laborers (tienistedreng, dreng, tienistepige, pige) which have been abbreviated here tjd., dr., tjp.
