Fri Nov 11 12:23PMAn unbelievable goalmouth scramble from an Iranian second-tier match has made unlikely heroes of the players involved.
Aboomoslem were hosting Mes Rafsanjan in their Azadegan League a few weeks ago, and the home side started an amazing attacking sequence from a free kick.
No fewer than ten attempts on goal were repelled in the space of 20 seconds during the astonishing sequence, with two Aboomoslem shots coming back off the woodwork and the rest being desperately hacked clear by the plucky Rafsanjan defence.
The mad scramble had been sparked when the goalkeeper ended up on the turf after jumping up to collect the free kick, provoking a succession of madcap attempts to get the ball into the unguarded net.
With those attempts becoming ever more desperate and the goalie recovering to his feet, one of the attacking side tried out an audacious overhead kick to settle things once and for all - only to leave his team-mates holding their heads in disbelief as the ball sailed safely away.
Sadly, all that good work was undone a few minutes later when the visiting goalie gave away a penalty that was slotted away cleanly to secure a 1-0 win for the hosts.
