Chairman Omali’s European Tour Forwards Unity in African Freedom Struggle!

On October 1, 2, 5 and 8, the African Socialist International (ASI) held public meetings throughout Europe hosting our Chairman, Omali Yeshitela.

I recalled on an early Thursday morning, us anxiously awaiting the arrival of Chairman Omali and Deputy Chair Ona Zene Yeshitela, after what felt like a lifetime since we had had the pleasure of hosting our international leadership in the UK.

As the morning progressed, the weather was actually quite warm for this time of year, which I looked at as a good sign of things to come, as we had only one more week to work with and we wanted to work hard to make the tour a success.

As the Chairman and Deputy Chair exited the flight deck, we greeted each other, and made preparations to get them back to base to rest. Read the rest of this entry

Nationhood or Genocide: The Struggle of the Native People Against Canadian and American Imperialism

What do the 'five teachers' have to say of relevance to the indigenous question in North America?

This article was originally published in the radical journal Canadian Revolution, which was published for a time by the Bolshevik Tendency/Union, a Maoist and later Hoxhist formation in Canada. Its writing, apparently influenced by the input of Native Marxist-Leninists, critiques the mechanistic application of Stalin’s thesis on the national question (developed inMarxism and the National Question) and advances a position of indigenous self-determination up to and including independence from settler Canada in the region of Canada’s far north. This position is today reflected in the writings of Canada’s current Maoist party, the Revolutionary Communist Party (no relation to the American Avakianist cult). Read the rest of this entry

Omali Yeshitela on the Russian Revolution

Monday, as many of my readers are no doubt aware, was the 94th anniversary of the world-historic Russian Revolution. During the October Revolution (so-called because of Russia’s then use of the Old Style Julian Calendar) the revolutionary Bolshevik Party under the visionary leadership of Lenin came to state power.

While the revolution itself could be considered a more drawn-out process, November 7 stands as its most outstanding date. On this day the majority of workers, peasants and soldiers took over state and governmental power, for the first time in the history of class society a country was not controlled and governed by a tiny group of monarchists or capitalists. Warrior Virtues: Loyalty

Full Text of Press Statement by Comrade Kiran and Badal

Respected media persons,

It is known to all that an agreement paper entitled “An agreement reached among the political parties on the issues including peace process” and jointly signed by the chairman of the UCPN (Maoist), chairman of CPN (UML), president of the Nepali Congress and leaders from United Democratic Madheshi Front was brought to public through media. The said agreement has seriously hurt at the credence and prestige of the great people’s war waged by the Maoists for ten years, the expectations, aspirations and dreams of the martyrs, disappeared and injured fighters and the outstanding records of devotion, heroism and sacrifice by the PLA and the entire freedom-loving masses as well. Although efforts have been made to beautify this agreement as a historical agreement that initiates a new era but in essence it has become a symbol of capitulation and a serious betray towards nation and the people. We strongly oppose this kind of agreement. Read the rest of this entry

Occupy Stolen Lands

A new article by Johnny Hawke of the northern Ontario based Anishinabek Confederacy to Invoke our Nationhood (ACTION).

The recent international explosion of the Occupy Movement is an ongoing series of demonstrations that were started in New York City in the Wall Street financial district. The movement is mainly protesting social and economic inequality, corporate greed, government corruption and corporate influence over government. The movements slogan, “We are the 99%”, refers to the difference in wealth in the U.S. between the wealthiest 1% and the rest of the population.

While Indigenous People around the Globe can identify with the Occupy Movement it’s our world view and Institutions as Indigenous Nations that conflict with the global elite and these wealthy developed countries where we have always been united as a collective movement defending our territories, rights and people from this common enemy, some more extreme as others. Chávez: Presidential Campaign Will Offer Socialist Option to the People

Caracas, November 4th 2011 (Venezuelanalysis.com) – Deepening the socialist project in Venezuela will be the driving force behind president Hugo Chávez’s 2012 election campaign, confirmed the incumbent head of state earlier this week.

During a broadcast on state television programme VTV, Chávez stated that “education for liberation” and “moving away from the logic of capitalism” will be at the heart of the socialist plan that the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) is proposing for the period 2013-2019. The Necessity for a Serious, Decisive, and Unavoidable Struggle to Determine the Principled Tactics of Struggle Conducive to the Changing Situation

The following is a communique from the Communist (Maoist) Party of Afghanistan that is invaluable for an understanding the ongoing occupation.

Comrade JMP of M-L-M Mayhem recently summed up the situation in Afghanistan and the role of the revolutionary forces in that country. He said:

The proposed American “withdrawal”, according to this document is only a withdrawal from the battlefield: the puppet government will become the main military actor (Afghani soldiers are cheaper than American soldiers, after all) to be managed from US bases.  Read the rest of this entry

Why We Left Occupy Ottawa

The following is a joint statement from the University of Ottawa Marxist Student Association and the Revolutionary Communist Party of Canada’s Ottawa members/supporters regarding their experience with Ottawa’s version of the Occupy Location X Movement.

I am posting this because the experiences of the PCR-RCP Ottawa and uOMSA are a lesson for all of us on how to deal with anti-communism, and also because there is a need for principled solidarity against such practices. I am also posting it though because there have been conscious efforts by forces in the United States, principally the Kasama Project, to misrepresent the PCR-RCP Ottawa and uOMSA on this issue.

It is truly sad that this kind of crap is coming from a self-described revolutionary grouping. Kasama’s words and actions have been petty, opportunistic, unnecessarily hostile and sectarian. However they can, and should, be countered by actually reading and examining the positions of the PCR-RCP Ottawa and uOMSA.

Finally, the posting of this should not be taken as an endorsement of either the PCR-RCP or the uOMSA. Read the rest of this entry

“Occupy Wall Street” is a Crisis for the Ruling Class. Deepen the Crisis!

The International People’s Democratic Uhuru Movement welcomes the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) protestors into the historical struggle against the ruling class that we, as Africans, have been involved in for centuries.

This growing movement of mostly white protestors who are challenging the bankers, capitalists and the political rulers represents a reinforcement for the ongoing centuries-long struggles of African, Mexican and Indigenous people.

The undeniable fact is that colonized people have been victimized by the bankers, politicians and even ordinary white citizens ever since Europe enslaved Africans and committed genocide against Indigenous people.

Identifying the Enemy: The Ruling Class and Their Puppet Politicians

The thieving bankers on Wall Street and the corporations are the ones who control the politicians, hire the armies to occupy communities and steal the resources of the oppressed peoples of the world. Read the rest of this entry
