Here are Some Childrens` Homes` I Was In As A Child
| Sadly, throughout my young life,i was in a couple of Childrens` Homes, and foster homes as i was rejected by my Mum,as a child, and i was in and out according to others feeling.
Anyway if any one was also in the homes below.
Please let me know,as i have been trying to collect information, and try to get a album of photos together to share amongst us.
I have put links on my links page, for people in,or who were in care.Great support, and friendly groups too. The one i recomend highly is.. this one. http://groups.msn.com/childrenshomesukcommonwealth
We are very friendly here, and Babs the site owner is a wonder woman. And i have many friends that i am proud to know, its fun, supportive, and we all have really good sense of fun.Come along and join us.
There are many home links, and many searching for old friends they grew up with, the site has huge resourses.
Childrens homes i was in,between 1963 and 1969.
I was in nursery foster care before that,in between home and being "put away".
First,home,was in Hook Hampshire.Called The Mead.Kings Road.Odiham.From 1963 Five Trees.Inwood Road.Liss.Hampshire.From april 1965/1969.
The mead Childrens Home in Hook Hampshire is still open, the two homes that were on site have been knocked into one.
I visited there some years back and it was so different, but also so familier too.
"Five Trees" Inwood Road Liss Hampshire closed in 1988,and the Social Services sold it.Below is a statement about the closure. Statement on closure of Five Trees Children`s Home Liss Hampshire LAND SUB-COMMITTEE 19TH MAY 1988
CHILDREN'S HOMES - RATIONALISATION OF USE
Five Trees Children's Home, Liss and Palmerston House, Romsey
In November 1987 the Committee approved the closure of these two children's homes and have now established that they have no alternative use for the properties. They have therefore declared that, on all the children currently there having moved on in accordance with the normal care plans, the two properties are permanently surplus to the requirements of the Committee.
They have asked that the Policy and Resources Committee make 100% of the capital receipts available for further child care developments in the County. - 2 -
"That it be a RECOMMENDATION to the Policy and Resources Committee:
That 100% of the capital receipt accruing from the disposal of Five Trees Children's Home, Liss and Palmerston House, Romsey, be retained by the Social Services Committee to fund further child care developments."
6. These particular properties are amongst a larger number of properties likely to become surplus during the implementation of the Child Care Strategy. The Sub-Committee have already welcomed the general policy leading to a reduction in the Social Services Committee's stock of buildings and already asked for a report on the re-use of the capital receipts arising; this report must await the new capital expenditure controls which the government is due to issue any day now. Officers anticipate being able to report to the next meeting of the Sub-Committee.
