Purists think that the fact that the Syndicate reboot is a shooter is sacrilege. That may be the case, but that doesn't mean it's not shaping up to be an interesting-looking game. GameSpot's Justin Calvert went to EA's offices to check it out, and says "Did I leave EA feeling like my memories of Syndicate are being betrayed somehow? Or that as a matter of principal there's no way I'll ever play the finished game? No way. I left EA that day eager to experiment with more of the game's weapons, trying to figure out which of my friends will play through the co-op missions with me next month, and wondering if it was me or one of the other agents who had somehow managed to cut an enemy clean in half at one point."
Cooperative play in EA's new first-person shooter may win over even its biggest naysayers.

Douglas Barrow  -  I remember playing the original Syndicate. Man, that was a long time ago! It would be cool if the did a remake and just upgraded the graphics. This sounds like a whole new game.

CBS News's profile photoCBS News originally shared this post:
Google confirmed in a statement that it will join Wikipedia, Reddit and other influential tech firms in staging protests of varying kinds against the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and Protect IP Act (PIPA), which are backed by big entertainment and media interests.

"Like many businesses, entrepreneurs and web users, we oppose these bills because there are smart, targeted ways to shut down foreign rogue websites without asking American companies to censor the Internet," a Google spokeswoman said. "So tomorrow we will be joining many other tech companies to highlight this issue on our US home page."
The search giant will post an anti-SOPA link on home page tomorrow as part of a unified protest planned by the tech sector.

Norman Lyon  -  Many other countries already have rules that allow the same thing. China's the first that comes to my mind, but the middle east had this problem during the past year while all the protests were going on. The only difference there is that the US praises those who bypass the measures in foreign countries as revolutionaries, but they're called any number of things, including guilty, if those same actions are taken inside the US' borders, or against her interests.

Once chipmunked the user can take some time to chew, swallow, and digest. If you haven't watched the vid yet then this comment may seem a bit out of place.

Some talk lately that one of the "big three" may end up getting out of hardware game with the next generation. I wrote a thing looking why each company might consider doing so, and similarly why they wouldn't. Hopefully it might spark some debate.
There's a growing sentiment that Microsoft, Nintendo, or Sony may not stay in the console business much longer. Which company will be the next to go?

Hmmmm...the Rakghouls from the new Star Wars The Old Republic update and the Krogan from Mass Effect look remarkably similar. What could the connection be?

Introduction

GameSpot is all about videogames and the gamers that love them. We live, eat, breathe and probably do lots of other things with videogames that shouldn't be allowed in polite society.

GameSpot has been around for more than 15 years, and is part of the CBS Interactive group in San Francisco.
