Nissan has given us a preview of one of the concepts that it is going to debut at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month. The PIVO 3 concept is the follow up to the PIVO 1 concept from 2005 and the PIVO 2 concept from 2007.

The PIVO 3 concept keeps the same three-seat layout as the first two concepts, but the newest concept is much closer to what an actual production model would look like. The PIVO 3 concept is less than 10 feet long and features a unique layout that has the driver seated in the middle of the car with a passenger seat on either side. Nissan hasn’t mentioned the actual specs for its drivetrain, but the PIVO 3 gets its power from in-wheel electric motors. The concept also features an all-wheel steering system that allows it to make a u-turn on a road that is as small as 13 feet wide.

The PIVO 3 concept also gets other unique features like Automated Valet Parking (AVP) that enables the concept to automatically drive, locate a parking space and park without driver assistance in the infrastructure equipped parking lots of the future. The PIVO 3 concept can also charge itself and return to its driver at the AVP exit when called by smartphone. That means you never have to actually look for a parking spot and remember where you parked.

Nissan hasn’t made any decisions if the concept will ever reach production, but the automaker is reportedly considering it.
