The Eve of Conflict

We now have what we have been waiting for. In the words of Barack Obama, "we are the ones we've been waiting for." We, the patriotic masses who find comfort in the stars and stripes, who know what it means to be an American have arrived at the precipice of history. It is a dangerous and deep chasm we see from above that separates us from them.

We are embroiled in a tug of war for the future of the nation. It is an ideological gulf that separates the sides. If one truly believes that America should be a socialist/communist country, that cannot be reconciled with the sentiment that it should not. This is not a new conflict where the sides are ill-defined and yet to be set. This is an old battle taken to a new terrain. Rather than being fought by one government to another, it is being fought right now in the minds of the populace.

The socialist/communist faction in America is largely made up of media personalities: of them are Chris Matthews, Lawrence O'Donnell, Oprah Winfrey, PBS, television, movies and labor unions. Their forces have infiltrated the government (yes, even the Republican side) in Washington and state houses all over the nation. Socialism/communism can be found in the courtrooms, the classrooms and even the boardrooms of those seeking one last chance at profit before they sign away their rights with ours.

This conflict has been an underground stream of discontent between the sides for one-hundred years. Think of it. This is not new, only the open declaration of the socialist/communist faction has the twinkle of novelty about it. They wear union insignia and boast of their connection to the highest offices in the land. Under every SEIU T-shirt is a hammer and sickle, if not, let them deny it, let them denounce it. Pull the mask from their faces and make them reveal their intent. Their willing violence in the streets in defense of the political class says all a patriot needs to know. But, they will probably admit it if pushed, if coerced, if brought out of their routine of denial.

I believe that we are at the starting point of a long and arduous journey toward a Restoration of the Constitution. It is our duty to breathe new life into the ancient document, to make words mean things again. As Orrin Hatch appropriately stated this morning on FOX News, "if Obamacare is allowed to stand, it means that the government can make us do literally anything."

Repeal is more than symbolic, it is the central actionable cause left to the patriot. If we cannot rally all of the patriotic people of the land to stand in defiance of this bill, to demand a passage and a presidential signature, or the override of the veto, then we shall stand for nothing else again. If you are looking for that peaceful moment to make your voice heard, to drive home your demand for republican government and the rule of law, this is it.

January 21st, we should meet on the steps of the capitol and demand the vote in the House and the vote in the Senate. On January 28th a new set of patriots should take up the rotation and let the others go home. Week after week there should be a changing of the guard. Take your valuable vacation and make it count. Take your unemployment and put it to use. Take your leave from war and contribute to the home front. Take your slowed business cycle and come to Washington for a week. Use whatever funds you can. Identify with others who cannot possibly go and ask for a donation to help you go. Who in the D.C. area can put some people up? These are the thoughts of a patriot, of a dedicated republican. Plan your trip now. Do not let them breathe. If we fail at this, there will only be one outcome: civil war.

If not now, when? If not us, who?

Human Targets

David Codrea from War On Guns writes in his Examiner piece Why Shouldn't Human Targets Shoot Back? You should go read the piece, but it covers the Virginia Tech shooting victim Colin Goddard, a paid hack in the employ of the Brady Bunch, and I don't mean the sitcom. These are the people so hurt by their own misfortune that they want to spread it around, a sort of Obamaesque sentiment with an even more evil twist.

I have never understood the impulse to go out on the public stage and engage others with tales of woe brought about by bad luck, kharma, ju ju, or whatever. The Virginia Tech shooting was a horrible thing, one that is in no way related to gun ownership. Anyone can get their hands on a gun. Why don't these people leave the rest of us alone and go into the inner cities and start there.

I would feel a lot better about their mission in life to end gun violence if they started their mission where gun violence is most often encountered. Gun violence is not a result of gun ownership, it is the result of criminal intent that negates any consideration of lawful or unlawful possession of a firearm. Would it be better if these criminals were not in possession of a gun? Sure, okay. Would it be better if nutcases didn't own guns? Sure. The trouble is, I don't think nutcases give a flying damn about the laws surrounding gun ownership any more than a criminal does.

The point of Codrea's piece isn't about gun laws, it is about the victim circuit, where liberals and statists can make a career of putting their personal struggles on television if and when it can be used to beat conservatives over the head. They don't seem to have one for conservatives. I wonder why? Could it be that conservatives don't spend their time trying to tell everyone else what to do, but just want to be left alone? We have been down this road, we have seen the damage that gun laws can do to inner cities like Chicago and Miami. Why won't the left ever let us learn from our lessons and do the smart things for society? I guess, because it would give them so much less pleasure in life.

The War To End All Wars

Pete at Western Rifle Shooters Association found this little tidbit about his grandfather the other night and I read it, reading between the lines of official troop action from the First World War. While brave men did their duty such as Edwin Spaulding, the war did not end all wars, it just brought them all home from every part of the globe.

Read this with our vets in mind tonight

God bless.

Meet You In DC on the Eve Of Disobedience

Sofa, over at Coordinated Illumination, left a comment on a previous post that struck a nerve for me. The post was on treason and his comment contained this gem: "Yet the Traitors are comfortable, knowing that decent people will continue to follow laws."

They ride the backs of the law-abiding as if they are beasts of burden, meant only to transport them from their dreary lives on farms and Main Street USA to the very pinnacle of power in the Western world. Where every day is another expression of their power and importance to the world. Where lobbyists gather at their knee, explaining the way Washington "works" which is exactly how to bilk the suckers back home of every dime in their pockets to fund "trade missions" to Greece and Rome.

The end result of their "careers" funded at the expense of the very people they betray in the halls of congress, is a bridge in their name or a list of regulations that squeeze the people back home tighter and tighter. They speak amongst themselves, chortling at the powerlessness and gullibility of those who pay the bills. It is a degree of disrespect and dereliction that drips from their fattened lips as they speak.

And yet, we citizens out here in the hinterland do as we are told out of respect...utter respect for the laws passed in such a manner as this. We are made the scapegoats for their failures, the punchlines for their jokes and still we abide by the dictates of the Constitution and respect the formulation of our government by that device.

But, this obedience is merely on loan. While the politician believes he holds the reins to unending power, let him once see the source of that might directed against him and his demeanor would change instantly. While we remain at home, we allow the excess. Perhaps it is time we all met in DC to issue the warning personally. We will see how they respond to the warning given on November 2nd. If that is not enough to get their attention, I say we meet on the capitol steps and demonstrate the will of the people.

Do We Need A New Word For Treason?

Say any word a thousand times and it loses its meaning. Yet, how could any act punishable by death lose its meaning? I don't care how many times I hear the word murder, it always pretty much holds the same weight as the first time I heard it. The same goes for rape. I heard the word many times and have seen it used superfluously as in: "They are raping the land!" Regardless, when I hear that word, it sparks an internal revulsion.

Treason seems to no longer hold that same revulsion. It is a co-opted word by those guilty of it. It is a word reserved for those who have gone against the government. But, when the government goes against the people in clear violation of the Constitution, the word never appears, or when it does it carries no weight whatsoever. So, one must ask oneself: "Why not?"

Why not, indeed.

A word like treason only holds meaning if it is enforced, if it represents a true and rational threat. Where there is no one to enforce the death penalty aspect to it, there is no meaning. Traditionally, we think of the consequences of treason more than the mere act of it. We might imagine the sneaky, late-night passing of communication between the treasonous agent and the beneficiary, but it is the stark sight of the firing squad that brings home the import of the act.

Another aspect to the act of treason that lends more weight to the word at one time rather than another is the immediacy of threat. When a nation is at war, treason is dealt with differently than when it serves to aid some distant military threat. I'm not sure that it should, but it is a fact. Part of that obviously comes from the lives put in danger dimension to a nation at war and the possibility of war.

In America today, we are at war. Treason is being committed. Lives are being put in danger as a result. This treason is open and clear, almost insultingly obvious, to anyone who cares to look. So, it must be the word that means nothing. I guess we need a new word for it.

History Is Told By Survivors

We can never know the truth of places like Valley Forge, Gettysburg or Omaha Beach, because history is told by survivors. While this seems like an obvious conclusion, think about it for a second. All one hears are the stories of survival. Death is but the relating of consequences on the road to survival, not the end of the story.

We pay homage to those who have given their lives for the nation, because we cannot fathom their sacrifice. We, the survivors, can only put their circumstance to the scales and weigh it against our own lives, our own reflections. We imagine a hole where the memories of our children and grandchildren are, but the dead have no such memories and have not felt the sting of lost generations.

What counsel would they give? As we stand at a crossroads where the future of the nation will be decided in a few short months, one must wonder what they would say to us. Is it worth it? Would they say: "Don't go!" Or, would they recount the blessings they had secured for others by giving of themselves? Would they consider theirs a noble sacrifice, or a useless waste?

I don't suggest that any will be asked to give their lives in the upcoming evolution, but that "lives" can consist of many things. The ticking minutes of one's life, in a sense, are the dimes and nickels that we spend and once spent cannot be regained. How do we choose to spend the next weeks and months of our lives? Will it be worth it? Will history inquire about our sacrifice? How shall we answer? Did we hunker down in a hole and wait for the concussions to stop? Did we march openly in defiance of overwhelming odds? Did we give aid to our nation or turn our backs?

If you survive, history will be asked of you. What story will you have to tell?

Repeal Obamacare? Yes We Can (Si Se Puede)

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) is a yoke around the neck of the economy. It is a boogeyman in the darkness for any business trying to make a dime in the time of Obama. "But, only companies with 50 or more employees will be required..." Yeah, I heard that one before.

Even worse than what it does to the economy is what it does to our republic. It is a clear violation of the Constitution as were all the other social programs designed by the federal government that are bankrupting our society today. Social programs, to what extent they are needed are the responsibility of the state and each state should be able to determine what level of aid is needed and how to deliver it. It is this absolute disregard for the law of the land that inspired the Tea Party Movement and if we allow it to go on, there is no end.

My suggestion is to make repeal of Obamacare the greatest cause and effort of not only Tea Party organizations, 9-12's and others, but to bring into the fold any other conservative group including Freedom of Religion and Second Amendment organizations. It should be a show of political force of the conservative cause. The Tea Party Movement demonstrated how successful it could be to put pressure on government officials and now, the government officials know the price of their obstinance. At no other time in history has the conservative cause held so much sway over the government and that advantage needs to be pressed home.

I believe the House will pass a repeal bill and some Democrats will sign on to it feeling that the Senate will never pass it. So,the target becomes the Senate, not the House. A list of those senators up for re-election in 2012 are here and should be put on your speed dial list to be called as soon as the bill passes in the House. Most of them, 21 out  of 37, are Democrats and of those, enough of them in states that just turned red to get the 51 votes needed once the Republican senators turn the tables on the Democrats.

The same caterwalling the Democrats were guilty of when they didn't want to have to overcome a filibuster to pass Obamacare can be used against them when Republicans don't want to have to overcome a filibuster to pass the repeal bill. It will make for some grand political theater at any rate. With enough Democratic Senators worried about the next election and a few who might jump ship like Jim Manchin in West Virginia the Republicans would be able to give the effort enough oomph to get it to the President's desk. Get used to dialing those Senate phones, because once Obama vetoes it pressure needs to be put on those same senators to override the veto.

"Who is the president to twice refuse the will of the people?" "Why won't the president let the people have a say in government on important issues?" All of these are fine statements to be made in the 2012 election. Hang the sign of arrogant ruler on the neck of Barack Obama. I'm sure if there is a foreign ruler around he will bow low enough for us to do it.

What Are They Waiting For?

We are now in purgatory, neither here nor there. We are adrift on the stormy seas of pre-rebellion, where forces close in on us from all sides. As the masses grow denser we shift slightly as if in a crowded elevator, just trying to maintain some private space between us and our troubles, between us and our obligations. We wait, arising in the morning with a trepidation of turning on the television. It is so close now we can feel it and only wait for the first salvo in the coming conflict.

Should we wait? Is now the time for action? Do we wait for the starting gun to sound? What the heck are we waiting for? Seriously. What is the moment of response? The long-awaited election has come and gone. We poked the eye of the government cyclops, but little else. The days on the calendar are clicking over one by one, giving our enemies comfort and the time to organize and solidify their presence and capabilities. They hold no loyalty, but act as a community of foreigners establishing secure sectors from which to operate.

Downpayment of Discomfort

Look, I don't care how one comes to their dedication to this nation. I'm not looking to start a conflict within the movement to rectify the abuses of an out-of-control government. One of the flaws of the Constitution is that it makes no provision for the will of the people. The idea, back then, was that elections would keep people in office who were responsive to the people. They could not have foreseen the methods of elections today. Now, these elections are nothing short of revival meetings for the political class. They give the impression of authorizing the representatives with the consent of the governed, but are really a shuffling of the same deck of cards.

The danger of this is evident in a couple of posts I have read lately. The first is from Karl Denninger and his post "How Do I Protect Myself From This?" Denninger explains the situation pretty well. The government has us (the people for whom it was created) at a disadvantage and unless one has been prepared to deal with the situation for a long time, there is little one can do now. Screwed is the preferred term for it. Another piece of the puzzle is from Washington Rebel and is a clip of Glenn Beck explaining what happens if the Chinese decide not to purchase any more of our debt. Of course, it is possible to find a few other nations whose interest in America is genuinely tied to their own security, but allegiances are fleeting.
