As a format, Blu-ray has become a monster truck rally of sorts, where studios unleash their multi-disc special edition equivalents of Truckasaurus to see which titles are worthy of HD supremacy. So many titles get released, cluttering the marketplace, that it's tough to separate the good from the "Are You Fuc!@#$ Kidding Me."

And it's even tougher to single out the best.

That's where IGN's Top 25 Best Blu-rays comes in. We've assembled a list of discs currently available and worthy of your allowance money.

Last year, IGN assembled a list of the best of the best. But some sweet new titles have hit the marketplace since then, so we decided to upgrade our list. We've made it bigger, stronger, faster, Blu-ray-ier. Hell, for the cheap seats, we've even broken down the criteria for this year's crop: Aside from format upgrades and new titles appearing on Blu, presentation, packaging, content and editor's choice factored into the selection process, providing a list of titles that appeal to the movie fan in us all.

Looking for the best TV and Movies on Blu? Want to show off your system with some reference quality pwnage? Take a toke off that inhaler, awesome enthusiasts, because we got ya covered. Behold, our brand new list. (And for those who collect lists, at the end of this Top 25 is last year's rankings. You're welcome.)

The Ultimate Matrix Collection
Publisher: Warner Brothers Home Entertainment

OK, we'll admit it. The first Matrix film is a work of sheer genius – a classic in nearly every way. But the second and third Matrix movies aren't so hot. That said, you have to admit that both films have some pretty awesome action set pieces, great music, delicious visual effects, wonderful choreography and a few impacting dramatic moments. Neither film is a classic, but they are a decent, if underwhelming, follow-up to the classic original.

This Blu-ray box set delivers the complete world of The Matrix, from the animated shorts to the video game cut scenes to the sequels. And this set does so in near-reference fashion with glistening transfers and pulse-pounding Dolby TrueHD 5.1 mixes. That's not all, either. This set also includes hours of extras, from insightful commentary tracks to documentaries, featurettes and more. Even if you were soured by the Matrix sequels, it's impossible to deny the value of this collection.
