Charmila, the girl who started off years ago with the Prashanth-starrer Kizhakke Varum Paattu, migrated to Malayalam where she became an actress to be reckoned with. After completing almost 40 films in Mollywood, her career was jeopardised. It was all because Charmila made one wrong move in her personal life. Now, the bubbly actress is back in Tamil and she was recently seen donning meaty roles including the one in Mahaan Kanakku. Meanwhile, the actress who is essaying the role of Vijay Antony’s mother in the forthcoming film Naan alleged that Jeeva Shankar, the director of the film, has shot few sleazy scenes using a body double without her knowledge.
“I play the mother of a younger Vijay Antony. When they approached me for the role they did tell me that it was a shady character. But they promised everything would be presented only in suggestive ways. One day while shooting near the city the director called and said that there is a bedroom scene where I am seen along with a man in a candid manner. I was shocked. I put my foot down and refused to do it since I was not informed about it earlier. They asked me to wait in the vanity van and said they would call once my shot is ready. I waited for almost three hours and when I sensed that something was wrong, I stepped out and I saw a lady walking with the same costume as mine. I called and asked one of the unit guys and to my dismay he said that the shot which I declined was completed with a body double,” she fumed.
“I have a family and a son! That is the precise reason why I turn down several item-number offers and glam roles that come my way. Even in Naan, if I was informed earlier, I would have opted out! I explained to Vijay Antony about it and he said he would look into the matter.” Charmila is presently busy with half a dozen films including Kadhalitthu Paar, Adhikaram 92, Oru Mazhai Naangu Saral etc.
