Hello, Livejournal, how long has it been since I haven't posted here ? 8 months ?

That's a long interruption, even for me. I guess I should blame Twitter ? Everybody does, anyway.

So what has been going on in my life recently ?

Last month, I went for a vacation in Italy : I visited Florence, Bologna (shortly), Rome and Naples. It was pretty great and I took lots of pictures which you can see on my flickr.

But since there is a lot of them, here's a short selection :

Esther has posted a new comic over at La Lanterne Brisée, and it is totally fabulous. Also there's almost no text, so you don't even need to understand French. I assume it was meant to be posted last week for the International Day Against Homophobia and Transhobia, but it was worth the wait.

I've really been enjoying her comics since the relaunch of her blog. It's worth checking out the archives to see how her style is evolving.

Someone has been reading the classics : Kenyan women are trying to pressure politicians into finding an end to the current political crisis, by re-enacting Lysistrata's story. That is, by withholding sex for a week.

Here is the story


"We are asking even sex workers to join the cause, even if we have to pay them ourselves," said Patricia Nyaundi, executive director of the Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya.

"We cannot allow our leaders to argue over non-issues while relegating the issues that affect this country to the back burner. When this happens, women suffer the most," said Ann Njogu, director of Centers for Rights Education and Awareness, which describes itself as a non-partisan organization that "seeks to empower the society on women's human rights."

harveyjames  is a comic genius, and most probably an evil genius.

I just read this comic he made for Vice Magazine, and it felt like being punched in the gut. Repeatedly. And I mean that as a compliment. I wish I could explain, but I was never a good critic, just trust me on this one, Okay ? Read it. It's genius. No really, read it. You'll thank me later, or maybe hate me, but it's worth it.

WARNING : as you could expect from a comic published at "Vice Magazine", it's not exactly SFW.

If, like me, you're a fan of G.R.R.Martin's "Song of Ice and Fire" (A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, a Storm of Swords, a Feast for Crows...), you'll want to have a look at Algesiras' brand new fanart gallery site : Highgarden. Also, I hear HBO is making a tv adaptation ? Well if somebody has the possibility to render it properly on tv, I guess it's them, but I'm still a little doubtful about it. They have an official blog, appropriately named "Winter is coming", where you can see the cast, and even a summary of the pilot's script, I'm told (go back to december's post).

Today's good webcomic news is that Ursula Vernon's webcomic "Digger" is now completely free. You can read it all without needing to purchase a subscription.

So really you have no excuse. Digger is one of the best webcomics ever, it has a wombat, a dead god, an oracular slug, among other thing, and... well I really suck at describing things I like, so let's leave it at IT BE GOOD COMIC.

Just trust me on this one, you won't lose your time.

Or maybe you will, but it'll be fun.
