Perfect Christmas Book

by a beloved author and illustrator

Here’s something to add to your last minute shopping list—or tuck this away for next year: A Christmas Manger, featuring the illustrations of H.A. Rey and the sacred words of Matthew and Luke.

The book, originally published in 1942, features pop-out figures to complete an Advent scene—along with a handy pocket to store them all for next year.

Many thanks to Charlotte at Waltzing Matilda for this great... READ MORE

Yummy Cookbook

a sweet treat

Lisa’s post on her new fave kitchen appliance prompted me to write about my favorite book to go with that—Ben and Jerry’s Homemade Ice Cream and Dessert Book.

I bought this for Paul last Christmas when I got him the ice-cream maker Lisa is so excited about. The whole family loves it! If you’re looking for delcious, easy recipes for an ice-cream maker, I recommend this book. I think it would make a nice Valentine’s gift for the sweet lover in your life.

On that note, what are you giving your beloved for Valentine’s Day this year? I’d love to hear some ideas.

Congratulations to commenter No. 70, Amy! She is the winner in our Alice Cantrell book giveaway.

To Save A Thousand Souls

another book giveaway

A few years ago, our parish was graced with one of the most dynamic priests I had ever met. Fr. Brett had such a contagious love for Jesus that just being around him made me want to be holy, to do better, to be better.

Fr. Brett didn’t stay long at our parish—he was soon offered a position at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary to help with priestly formation. While I was sad to see him go, I couldn’t think... READ MORE
