Babies Up!

What's your favorite milestone?

Our twin babies were six months old in November, and we celebrated. Half a year. We’ve made it half a year. Phew.

(We figure with two babies, we’ve done a full baby-year, so six months is like a first birthday in those terms.)

What’s even more exciting than our babies being six months is what they’ve newly started doing.

See that picture? It’s Linus on the left, Ambrose on the right, both of them... READ MORE

C'Mon Get Happy

nine things you can do

Do you ever have times where you’re walking around and realize you’re just in a funk?

I do, and I usually make it worse by fixating on the fact that I’m in a funk. “I’m feeling blue,” I will say to myself, “I wonder why I’m blue?”

Instead of thinking so much about it, maybe a better plan is to try getting out of the funk. It’s not that we shouldn’t try to figure out what’s bothering us—sometimes that’s... READ MORE

Favorite Things

a few of them

It was with entirely too much glee that I barreled down the highway this afternoon, heading home after a productive trip to the Big Box Store.

I was there to get a few more school supplies, but had some other happy success as well. Do you ever have one of those trips where you don’t have to buy an overwhelming amount of stuff, but what you do get makes you feel really good inside? That was my trip... READ MORE

Simply Irresistible

This is a simple Happy Easter, He is Risen fill in the blank:

I just can’t say no to you, [insert favorite Easter candy here].

I will reveal my answer in the comments, and hope each of my fellow bloggers will do the same! And you, dear reader! What Easter candy do you find irresistible?

Into the Woods

for a breath of fresh air

We are going to have temperatures in the 60s this weekend and I am so eager to get outdoors. Doesn’t everything just seem better after time in God’s creation?

Here is a favorite quote from Henry David Thoreau:

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover... READ MORE

Head Count

Is your table big or small?

I’m just curious what kinds of crowds our readers will be joining on Thursday—are you part of a large ensemble or something cozy?

At our house, we are hosting seventeen—a little more than mid-sized by our standards.

Whether you’re in a big crowd or a small crowd, may it be blessed. Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Baby Beguiles is Born!

Just a happy little note to say:

Hallie’s baby is born! And she’s beautiful!

News Light

Read the news and go to bed smiling

Especially since becoming a mother, I have trouble reading the news. It seems like there are so many gruesome or depressing stories, and it’s easy to get bogged down.

Recently after a quick scan of the online news, I was looking for a cheery story, anything that would make me feel a little better about the state of the world.

I Googled “happy news.” And look what I found!

Someone runs an entire website... READ MORE

My View

which explains a lot

I thought I would share this picture with you. This is what 34 weeks looks like, when you’re trying to get on shoes and socks and head out at the end of the day. I got about half-way through before I just couldn’t breathe anymore and had to stand up.

When I looked down at my feet, after I “put on my socks” I laughed until I cried. This is how we roll, for the time being.

Happy Monday to you too!

It Happened!

beautiful, wonderful snow

The snow has fallen and we could not be happier. It started this afternoon, and it’s still coming down. We’ve got real accumulation too, not just little five-inch snowmen but actual snowforts and snowball fights.

This snow is a great source of joy and glee and the cause of me hearing phrases like “Look how beautiful it is!” and “I’m having the time of my life!” and also “I think this is a miracle.”

Wonderful, indeed. Happy Snow Days, to all of you, and to my Southern peeps in particular!
