This is the POWERADE FAB 50 ESPNHS Team rankings for the fall season. The fall-playing states are: California (one section), Connecticut, D.C, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Virginia (private), Washington and West Virginia.

Rankings are based on results through Oct. 17.

How quickly fortunes change. Evansville Memorial (Evansville, Ind.) and Carmel (Carmel, Ind.) appeared to be on a possible collision with a national top five ranking on the line. Instead, both teams are finished for the year.

Memorial and Carmel were postseason upset victims last week. Since both were in the top 10, it results in a reshuffling of teams in line behind No. 1 Rye (Rye, N.Y.) and No. 2 St. Ursula (Cincinnati, Ohio).

Maria Carrillo (Santa Rosa, Calif.) inches up to No. 3 and Eden Prairie (Eden Prairie, Minn.) moves top No. 4. All four teams could finish out the season undefeated, and if so, should retain this order the rest of the way.

Here's a quick glance at key moves this week:

On the Rise: Jackson (Massillon, Ohio): What's the best way to make a jump in the POWERADE FAB 50? Well, beat a highly ranked team. That's exactly what Jackson did last week, rebounding from a loss to Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) with a win over then-No. 22 Medina (Medina, Ohio), 2-0. Jackson checks in at No. 21 in this week's FAB 50.

Welcome to the Club: This week's newcomers are: Jackson, St. Joseph's (South Bend, Ind.), Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers, Ind.), Eastern (Voorhees, N.J.), Boyertown (Boyertown, Pa.), Lincoln (Portland, Ore.), Mercyhurst Prep (Erie, Pa.) and Davis (Kaysville, Utah).

What's Next: Utah state championships. The first state to finish with FAB 50-ranked teams winds up its season this week. Tuesday's Class 5A state semifinal match features No. 25 Brighton (Salt Lake City, Utah) against No. 50 Davis (Kaysville, Utah). The winner will be favored in Friday's state final.

Ashley Meier, Emily Ogle and Madison Franklin each scored twice and Alexis Manoa dealt out three assists in a regular season-ending 7-0 win over Brunswick.

9 Jesuit (Portland, Ore.) 9-0-1 13
Jesuit, last year's FAB 50 No. 1 team, is off to a better start in 2010 as its season nears the halfway mark.
10 Ramapo (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) 10-0-0 17
Paul Heenahan, one of the nation's all-time winningest girls' soccer coaches, has guided Ramapo to a perfect start.
11 Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) 12-1-3 16
Walsh Jesuit has shutout seven of its last eight opponents and might play the best soccer of any team in Ohio right now. In the last two weeks, Walsh Jesuit blanked No. 21 Jackson, No. 27 Medina and recent FAB 50-ranked Brecksville.
12 Archbishop Wood (Warminster, Pa.) 14-1-0 23
Archbishop Wood's convincing win over Germantown Academy results in another big jump in this week's ranking. Archbishop Wood put a 7-1 smack on GA, a team Pennington School (N.J.) was only able to defeat 2-0. Archbishop Wood's Kelsey Celline pushed her season total to 28 goals.
13 Lenape (Medford, N.J.) 11-1-1 38
Kate Walters scored in all three matches as Lenape defeated Cherry Hill West, Clearview, Winslow Township. The major jump is the result of a more compelling victory over Paul VI, which Pennington need double overtime to beat, 1-0.
14 Pennington School (Pennington, N.J.) 9-0-1 14
Pennington defeated Steinert, 3-1, last week to remain undefeated. This week, Pennington renews its rivalry with Maryland private-school power McDonogh (Owings Mills, Md.).

Leigh Appelstein had three goals in a 3-1 victory over Hightstown and Whitney Bickford scored twice in a 2-1 win over Robbinsville. Appelstein assisted one of Bickford's scores.
16 Skyline (Sammamish, Wash.) 12-0-0 18
Keeper Tina Vargas had a pair of shutouts and Maddie Christ and Michelle Bretl each scored twice in two Skyline wins.

Council Rock South rebounded from a loss to Archbishop Wood with wins last week over Abington and Council Rock North.
20 McDonogh (Owings Mills, Md.) 10-0-1 6
A draw against Archbishop Spalding last week causes a drop for McDonogh. This week, it faces Pennington School (Pennington, N.J.) which should go a long way to settle the ranking order in the Mid-Atlantic.
21 Jackson (Massillon, Ohio) 13-1-2 NR
The Polar Bears make the biggest move this week, beating then-No. 22 Medina, 2-0, last week. The team's lone setback is to FAB 50 No. 11 Walsh Jesuit.

25 Brighton (Salt Lake City, Utah) 15-0-3 29
Brighton is the lone undefeated team remaining in the Utah large-school state playoffs. A possible match against No. 50 Davis could determine state No. 1 now that four-time defending state champ Alta was upset.
