CFL ALUMNI LUNCH RAISES MONEY FOR DIRE NEEDS FUND

Our CFL Alumni Legends Luncheon at Grey Cup in Vancouver was a huge success in raising money for the CFL Alumni Dire Needs Fund.

“The purpose of the event was to raise money for former CFL players and their families who are facing financial hardship due to medical challenges,” said Leo Ezerins, Executive Director of the CFL Alumni Association. “We had a sold-out luncheon and a great turnout from fans and former CFL players. We are proud to be working with the Canadian Armed Forces in this initiative and helping out members of the CFL fraternity who may be going through a difficult time.”

The luncheon was presented on behalf of the Canadian House of Heroes, a recently established partnership between the CFL Alumni Association and the PPCLI Foundation (Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry) of the Canadian Armed Forces.

The event was attended by approximately 400 people including more than 50 former players.  The luncheon, part of the Grey Cup 2011 celebrations, was hosted by well-known Canadian comedian Ron James and local award winning radio show host Brother Jake Edwards.  It is fair to say everyone in attendance was overdrawn at the fun bank!

Thank you to everyone who supported our event and looking forward to the 100th next year in Toronto!
