• 5" (12.7cm) long-throw mineral-filled polypropylene cone driver with butyl rubber surround creates surprising bass response from a compact design.
• 3/4" (19mm) anodized aluminum dome tweeter with rubber surround for long life; the tweeter uses a neodymium magnet for better power handling and smoother response.
• Patented Dynamic Balance® and Klippel Optimization technologies ensure the perfect material performance, eliminating driver and tweeter "artifacts" for more realistic sound reproduction at high and low volume levels.
• Broad coverage baffle design, adapted and applied from our current Atrium design but with subtle improvements. The new Atrium5c has a more steeply-angled baffle design that maximizes critical mid- and high-frequency dispersion over a large area, without sacrificing the detail.
• Durable, mineral-filled polypropylene cabinet design, with molded-in bracing, survives years of seasonal changes for truly great sound, no matter what the weather.

Polk Audio All-Weather Certified

All of our outdoor built-in loudspeakers, including the Atrium5c, must pass our All-Weather Outdoor Environmental Certification Program. These products must withstand a two month barrage of extreme environmental testing. Polk Audio All-Weather Outdoor Certification is our guarantee of reliable high performance indoors and out, 365 days a year. The Atrium5c was subjected to the following tests:

• Extreme Temp Test: cycles from -40°F to 185°F at 50% humidity for 48 hours.
• Extreme Temp Test at High Humidity: cycles from -40°F to 185°F at 95% humidity for 24 hours.
• Extreme Humidity Test: 140°F at 95% humidity for 54 hours.
• UV/Salt-Fog Materials Test, based on military specifications for "ASTM D5894" and "Mil-Std 883" tests: alternates one week of UV and one week of Salt Fog exposure for six weeks (1008 hours total).
• UV/Salt-Fog Whole Speaker Test (based on military standard "Mil-Std 883 Method 1009 8" test): UV and Salt Fog exposure, 24 hours.
• Whole Speaker Immersion Test ("The Dunk Test"), based on military specifications for "Mil-Std 810": total immersion test for air/moisture leaks in non-ported speaker models.
• Whole Speaker Spray & Sprinkler Test: periodic forceful dousing for ported and non-ported speaker models.
• Impact Test for product & material durability.
