5.)  Where are the headwaters of the Mississippi?

Answer:

The mighty Mississippi begins at Lake Itasca in Itasca State Park, in the Mississippi Headwaters region of northwest Minnesota. You can navigate the stepping-stones that cross the river, enjoy a meal at an old log cabin inn, observe an abundance of birds and wildlife, and take a narrated boat cruise on Itasca, only one of more than a hundred within the 32,000-acre park. Be sure to check out the adjoining Lake Country Scenic Byway .
