In honor of The Human Centipede 2 and its Valentine's Day Blu-ray release, IGN caught up with the film's director Tom Six and asked him to give us his top five most twisted love movies of all time. Not only did he give us a list of his favorites, but he also gave us his own personal blurbs on each one.

So, when you've come back from dinner with your special someone -- or something (we're not judging) -- why don't you snuggle up on the couch, pop some popcorn, and take in one of these delightfully gruesome romantic flicks? And then regurgitate the popcorn...

Nekromantik (1987)

Tom Six Calls It: "A guide to how to keep a beautiful woman."

Synopsis: When a street sweeper, Rob Schmadtke, discovers a whole rotting corpse, he brings it home so that he and his girlfriend Betty can enjoy it, allowing them to pursue one of their favorite hobbies: necrophilia. However, as time goes on, Rob discovers that Betty is beginning to prefer the corpse over him.


Guinea Pig Series: Mermaid in a Manhole (1988)

Tom Six Calls It: "A beautiful love story between an artist and a mermaid."

Synopsis: Based on a manga by Hideshi Hino, this Japanese gore-slasher tells the story about a young artist who discovers a stranded mermaid in the sewers beneath the streets of Okinawa. Finding that the mermaid is suffering from infectious boils contracted in the sewers, he takes her into his home where he begins to paint her... using the blood and puss from her own lacerations.


Boxing Helena (1993)

Synopsis: Nick Cavanaugh is a lonely Atlanta surgeon who struggles with getting over one of his past lovers Helena. After she in injured in a devastating hit-and-run accident outside his home, Nick takes her in and performs a secret surgery, amputating both her legs. Refusing to let her leave, despite her pleas for escape, he later amputates her healthy arms as well.



Tom Six Calls It: "A sweet love story of people getting horny from car crashes"

Synopsis: When Toronto film producer James Ballard gets into a serious car accident with another woman, Helen Remington, he finds that the notion of vehicle collision is somehow erotically stimulating. Soon both he and Helen get caught up in a car-crash fetish sub-culture where likeminded individuals come to let out their pent-up sexual frustration.
