Police on Monday morning arrested a man who had been on the run since
reportedly fleeing from officers during a traffic stop Friday.
Justin Stone, 25, of White Rock was arrested about 11 a.m. Monday in
Pojoaque. Stone, who had 10 active warrants out for his arrest on
burglary and trafficking of controlled substance charges, fled police
Friday after a traffic stop in which a woman was arrested. Police said
the vehicle contained materials suspected to be part of a mobile meth
lab.
Santa Fe police worked with Santa Fe County sheriff's deputies for
Monday's arrest, which was made at a trailer home in Pojoaque.
"We received a tip to his whereabouts and we took him into custody without incident," Lt. Louis Carlos of Santa Fe police said.
In addition to serving Stone with the multiple warrants, new charges
for fleeing police may be filed. The case is being forwarded to the
District Attorney's Office, Carlos said.
Stone was charged with trafficking methamphetamine and conspiracy in
connection with a meth lab bust in January 2011 at a residence in the
1700 block of Paseo de Peralta, as well as a 2006 drug bust.
Early Friday morning, Santa Fe police pulled over a 2001 gray Toyota
Highlander on Cerrillos Road near Richards that contained tools used in
the production of meth. According to a police report, the driver had no
valid identification, though officers later determined he was Stone.
Police identified a passenger in his vehicle as Emma Keener, 20, 994
Alamo Road. Keener was arrested at the scene on an outstanding warrant.
As Keener was being arrested, Stone sped off around the corner of
Cerrillos Road and Richards Avenue, according to police. Police chased
the car on foot as it pulled around the Walgreens, 3298 Cerrillos Road,
on the corner. Stone abandoned the vehicle in the parking lot and fled
on foot.
