Duane Courtney's Picture

Duane Courtney

He was released by the club at the end of the 2008/09 Season having spent three years with the Saints.

TNS swooped to sign defender Duane Courtney on September 20th 2006. He was previously with Championship outfit Burnley and was a former team mate of new colleague, Alfie Carter at AFC Telford United.

Courtney played with Derby County as a schoolboy, before joining Birmingham City as a trainee. He received Telford's player of the season award in 2004/5, which drew attention from League clubs, with Burnley beating Wolverhampton Wanderers to his signature for a fee of £27,000.

Courtney, Born in Birmingham, started one game for the club, a 3-2 win at Luton in November 2005 and made seven substitute appearances. He was placed on the transfer list in the 2006 summer by manager Steve Cotterill but was unable to find a move away from the club and he has now decided to pursue a career in the Principality Welsh Premier and sees the league, with its route into European competitions, as an ideal shop window in which to develop his career and showcase his talent.

He was named in the Principality Welsh Premier League Team of the Year for 2006/07 by the League Managers and was a key member of the League and Premier Cup successes in his first season at the club.
