Having gorged on Big Macs in Super Size Me, here ‘documentertainer’ Morgan Spurlock stuffs himself with sponsors in pursuit of a film about product placement. But don’t expect a hard-hitting exposé. It’s intentionally a cosy affair, Spurlock whoring himself out to bemused co-promoters.
Weirdly, though, Spurlock’s fidelity to his own ‘playful/mindful’ brand values remains intact; the sheer chutzpah of the prank, and his gift for showmanship, underline just how dull Hollywood’s commercial deals have become.
