Darlington have signed Chesterfield midfielder Paul Harsley on loan.

Following the signing of Leeds youngster Andrew Milne on loan deadline day, Harsley has joined the Quakers until January 2.

The experienced, Scunthorpe-born holding midfielder began his career with Grimsby as a trainee before signing for his hometown club in 1997, playing more than 100 games for the Iron.

The 31-year-old then had spells with Halifax, Northampton and Macclesfield before signing for Port Vale in 2006, winning the club's Player of the Year award at the end of the 2007-08 season, and then signed for Chesterfield in summer 2008.

Harsley has played more than 400 career league and cup games in League One and Two in the last 12 years.
