Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club to play quality football in upcoming season

Dhaka, Aug 16 (UNB) - Newcomers Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club is determined to perform high quality football in the upcoming domestic football tournaments including the Bangladesh League that is scheduled to begin on December 20 this year.

The new entrant to Bangladesh League has already roped in some top booters from the country’s two traditional teams - Mohammedan SC and Abahani Limited - to achieve their target in the prestigious league.

“Obviously, we are looking for a league title and hopefully we’ll be able to show high quality football to our sports lovers in the upcoming season,” Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club president Manjur Kader said.

He said they had preliminary talks with 17 booters to confirm their services for the team. The contract with the booters would be finalized prior to the inter-club players transfer starting September 1.

Kader said national skipper cum custodian Aminul Haque has been made the captain of the team. “We preferred Aminul as captain as we consider him suitable for the post.”

About the team coach, he said national team coach Saiful Bari Tito is their first choice and they have a discussion with him. “The selection of the team coach will be finalized very soon.”

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club already roped in Aminul Haque, Wali Faisal and Mamunul Islam from Mohammedan SC, and Enamul Haque, Sujan and Shahed from league champions Abahani Limited.
