- Showed up first in Super Street Fighter II Turbo
- Can shoot fireballs from the air
- Brother of Gouken
How freaked out were you when Akuma beat up M. Bison in the secret battle at the end of Super Street Fighter II Turbo? We can all assume the answer was very. Sharing a lot of similar moves to Ken and Ryu, Akuma is a more fearsome competitor who channels dark energy. He can toss fireballs, including from mid-air, as well as perform a teleport move to quickly switch positions onscreen. Akuma has proven to be a persistent character, showing up in the Alpha series, a few versions of Street Fighter III, all the way up through to Super Street Fighter IV. His appearance is always intimidating, as red flames often surround his body, his tattered clothing and glowing red eyes. In Street Fighter IV, his Ultra Move can be particularly damaging as Akuma swiftly floats across the screen and unleashes a barrage of cloaked strikes on helpless targets. His popularity bled over into other games outside of the core Street Fighter franchise. He showed up in X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. And let's not forget his showing as a super deformed villain in Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo. While he's no longer much of a mystery when he shows up, his powerful move set ensure he'll always be a formidable foe.
