Smiley unveils new deals

Licences signed in promotions, apparel and back-to-school.

Renault has agreed another deal to use the Original Smiley logo as the face of its summer campaign in France. As part of the promotion the autos firm will give away Smiley beach towels, beach balls and beach bags to customers in preparation for the summer.

In back-to-school, Stationery Team has signed a three year agreement to use the Smiley Society and Smiley brands on a range of products including backpacks, iPhone cases and notebooks for Europe (excluding France) and the Middle East.

Sportandem will make SmileyWorld stationery for Southern European markets, including Portugal, Spain and Andorra.

In Asia, Good Speed will create a SmileyWorld clothing range for sale in Japan, including t-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts. In Hong Kong and China, luxury knitwear producers Pearl Source, which sells under the Bypac brand, will create a third collection of cashmere items to commemorate its 40th anniversary under the 'Smiley-Happy Cashmere' brand.

Elsewhere in apparel, European chain Cool Cat has just launched its spring/summer 2012 SmileyWorld collection in stores.
