An agreement has been reached that means that Hull City defender Liam Cooper will return to Brunton Park on loan as soon as he recovers from the hand injury picked up during the defeat against Huddersfield at the start of February.
Cooper, 19, made four appearances during the first part of his stay with the club and scored on his debut in the 4-0 home win over Bristol Rovers.
He is expected to come back to Carlisle in approximately three weeks time once he is given the all clear by the Tigers' medical staff.
Manager Greg Abbott said: "We've seen what Liam can do and he has been a pleasure to work with.
"We're delighted that he will be staying with us for a longer period. He has enjoyed it here and he wants to be playing football.
"He has quite a nasty break in his hand and it needs time to recover, but hopefully he will come back fit and raring to go."
